Circle Lenses- The anime craze

Post by MidniteKitten »

I was curious if anyone had ever heard about circle lenses? What do you think about them?

I personally bought a pair of "Natural" circle lenses. They enhance what I already have without adding color, only a ring. The ones I have are the smallest of these huge lenses available and still looks quite interesting. But some of the bigger ones can get to look quite buggy and creepy. Of course they originated in Asia with their childlike idealization of beauty and anime influences. Just thought it might be an interesting topic.

Heres a pic of me with my circle lenses:

Theyre used to achieve the "Ulzzang" or "Perfect Face" look, heres me trying out the look:

PS>My eyes are naturally a light brown but my Sidekick makes everything have a green tint and is overexposed

what exactly do they do? what "ring"?
My eyes have a black/dark ring on the outside of the iris naturally. Is that the "ring" these contacts are duplicating? I can't see anything in the pictures.

EDIT -- after some help from google
So they just make the iris look larger. Ok.

My eyes naturally have the ring as well, its just slightly larger than the actual iris makes them appear bigger. (Sorry my pictures aren't all too helpful without some before pictures, sorry >x<)

Gotta love google.

That's interesting. At fist I thought you meant glasses lenses -
Big round lenses are an anime staple.

I see what you're talking about now tho. After a few minutes on Google tho, I think (as with any fashion trend) there are some people who should just NOT wear them. XDD

I saw some that made me think:

too much of anything is not always a good thing. XD

:hitting:
ahhh nooo not the circle lenses again!! >_<;;
:flushie

(thou yours are subtle, you look kawaii! :hello
kudos for not going w/ the more larger lens.
Those strike me as creepy dead-doll /wah)

Those have actually been around a long while.
The colored circle lenses were popular among
the Shibuya girls of the 90s
(they also sold it in Thailand too)
its just that its started to emerge in Korea they are
becoming more er... I guess "mainstream" ??
S.Korea tends to be a lil behind J-fashion trends, I'm just
hoping the rest of the Ganguro look doesn't come back
*shutters*

Althou if you wanted the same look you could always
just dose your eyes w/ some mydriatic drops or
smoke a roach LOL! you'll get the same effect
:pimp :dlook :dgrin

Or drip essence of deadly nightshade in your eyes.
That's why the Italians called it "Belladonna" after all.

Ah... so they're actually called circle lenses. I've heard about them as they seem to be quite popular these days. I don't wear them myself but my sister does. I'm not sure about the lenses adding a ring (since our eyes are dark brown and it's hard to see) but they do make the iris bigger and the edge more defined.
