The backgrounds I know of are thick paper painted with water colors. Some are laser copied- thin, glossy paper painted via computers which are becoming more frequent.
I've never heard of a background made of a cel! (maybe another cel layer that's not a background?)

I don't feel like goin and buying ink for my printer to print a background every time I either buy a cel w/out a background or make a fan cel. I'll probably just make my own background. This cel looks like the background is a cel!?

Don't judge anything by that! It looks like a bad fan cel.
There are many cels with a foreground and/or a background acetate layer, and some special effects cels do not have backgrounds to allow the use of lighting effects. Everything else that I have ever seen has a watercolor paper background

Fan Cel?
Thats not a fan cel bud. It's a production cel off yahoo japan...obviously. It's sort of looks like a fan cel, but I am 99.9% sure it's not.

Actually, glorff was just comparing that cel to a bad fan cel. I don't think he meant that it actually was one.
In any case, I agree with him about how the cel looks, there's something weird about it.

The opening bid is $12.71 and it probably will not get any bids. I own every Dragonball episode and movie and I am sure I would have noticed a sequence that was that different in quality from the rest of the show.
I am not the expert that some others here are, having only eleven DB cels, but hopefully they will join in.

Speaking for myself, most of my backgrounds are made with watercolor paint mixed in some cases with tempera(an opaque watercolor). The paper is cardstock/watercolor paper. I do have cels where the background is painted right onto the cel with cel paint. And of course there are the laser copied backgrounds. That 's all I've heard of. I'm interested to know more.
OT wow, poop good to see you back!
