Honestly I'm amazed I was the only person who bid. Was expecting to fight for it.

The Ed from Cowboy Bebop and the Burn Up W OP items where really interesting especially the Burn Up W one that I liked a lot. At my side I bought a bunch of Astro mangas from the 1950s 1960s for exhibition project introduction frame before the Astro b&w one. Was on the run for the Anne of Green Gables pan sketch but overpassed my planned $1500 limit (and even with extra, well again, always 100 JPY more :D), so I resigned and funds gone to another item which is an animation director shikishi. Really like the colors and signature design that make a perfect mix to honor this very popular TV animation boxing series and the work from this famous animation director during 3 decades.

Price was definitively overvalued but well, that'll really fit in exhibition attached with some nice sketches or cels.

You're lucky...I had my close eye on that Ed cel from Bebop as well :)...in the end though, after my husband and I talked it over, the bleed through from the background was the deciding factor. I'm glad someone from Beta ended up with it though-it's a super cute cel!

There just wasn't much more in the BWA this time other then Ed that I was even semi interested in...much to the delight of my wallet lol

The bleed through you mention might just be some air pockets between layers if there is a blank cel cover. Its actually really easy to fix. We'll see when it shows up, but something like that I'm not worried about. Been looking for a great Ed cels for years.

Wow people have some decent hauls! Macron One I too had my eye on that Burn Up cel, but another purchase I recently made precluded me from bidding this time around. It will be a real gem for your collection though. And I guess it's good luck/bad luck for you Anime Chaos, good luck for the Ed cel and bad for the Burn up. Being a Burn up collector I'd love to see your Burn Up collection I'd wager it has some prime pieces in it!

I was eying that Sakuya hanken! She's my fav female character of the Tenchi series but $300 + is out of the league for a jobless college student. I'm glad someone here has it though.

A cel of Sakura in her rabbit-eared battle costume.
That's very nice, and looks identical to the pose in the CCS Artbook for the TV series, first and second season. When the "Omakase no Kero" feature was running, many of these were featured, and while I'd guess these were originally color tests, they are superb in quality. Unfortunately, the "Kero's Corner" came to an end before this episode was aired, but it still is quite a find.
Now that is a really outstanding addition. That comes from the moment in Ep. 49 when Tomoyo realizes that Sakura's new challenge means that there will be more opportunities to make more battle costumes. We see a few of these in tome (A1 END) cels, and the costumes are seen only once, briefly. This one is actually based on the "Sheep Trap" costume that CLAMP designed for the manga version for this adventure: the costume actually used in the TV series version of this episode is quite different. You got both these for very good prices, considering.

Congratulations!

I can't tell you how happy i am to have your expertise around, because i didn't know any of that :emb .This may seem weird, considering CCS is one of my all-time favourite anime series, but it's been nearly 5 years since i last watched it and i've forgotten a lot of things.
This isn't unique to CCS either, as i was collecting so many anime DVDs between 2004 and 2009 that i simply haven't gotten around to rewatching most of the stuff and actually built up a considerable backlog during that time. Since mid-2009 my anime purchasing has however decreased to the point where i'm now purchasing only a few series on DVD this year. Consequently, my DVD backlog has now almost been eliminated (only half of ADV's Sailor Moon R boxset plus Geneon's Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS boxsets left to go), which will finally allow me to start rewatching some of my favourites. The first two series i'll be rewatching are Nadesico and Cardcaptor Sakura, which i'm already really looking forward to. The very fact that i'm about to rewatch them for the first time in ages is however making me rather reluctant to compare my cel acquisitions to the corresponding scenes in the anime, because i'm afraid of it spoiling some of my enjoyment. I've tried my best to remember as much as possible and use wikipedia for the names of secondary characters whose names I forgot (sorry, Nakuru!), but i'm still getting a lot of things wrong. For instance, I didn't realize I had purchased the genga set of Sakura receiving the final Clow Card until i came across the description to your cel from that particular scene. I originally thought it was just any old Clow Card :emb (I still need to fix my description of those genga).

As for the CCS cels i purchased during the BWA, I at first figured that the rabbit-eared costume Sakura cel would be a kero corner cel, as the description seemed to suggest. After I had won the auction, I looked up a list online that mentioned the contents of all the kero corner segments and discovered that my cel wasn't part of it. I then sort of assumed it was likely to be a test cel, but couldn't be certain and was unsure of what to call it until your post. The episode 49 cel was one I hadn't checked at all, simply assuming incorrectly that, despite my not recognizing the costume, it must have been Sakura's battle costume of that episode.

Long story short: Your a lifesaver, sensei! Without your knowledge and gallery I would have been totally unaware of the proper context of many of the CCS pieces i've purchased thusfar. I'll make sure to include a proper description of my BWA Sakura cels once I receive them and add them to my gallery.

Thanks! Though i'm not much of a Burn Up collector, i couldn't resist bidding on this excellent cel. The price seemed quite reasonable too, so i've been very lucky this BWA.

The Tenchi in Tokyo season is not one of my favourite Tenchi incarnations, but i must say that hanken is absolutely gorgeous!

Heh. And the nice thing is that it's inexpensive. On some level I wish I could mix it up for some of those BWA items, but on another I wonder how many nice cels is enough? Not enough for the world, of course, but certainly enough to be happy when someone elxe gets something really nice.

Is still moronically happy about his little 3200 yen CCS Ep. 1 YJ win from this morning, which bookends the new "Kaijuu kick" genga set.

With Zenbu 48 now history, it's time for bragging.

I have never participated in a Big Web Auction before, but with Macron One and some others saying they'd sit this one out, I took a curious look. True, the CCS items were not the super high end ones that have gone up before, but they were nice and the opening bids surprisingly reasonable. With a little extra funds in hand, I registered, then to see if the registration took, I put down a milk-toast bid on one of the CCS items, figuring that the usual shark frenzy would swallow up my bid quickly.

Next morning, found that my bird-feed offer had held up, and I'd won a nice pan cel of Sakura in her bare-shouldered Green Fairy costume (with Kero-chan making a funny face).

https://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/auc_e/ite ... 0060100001

So that gave me an idea that I'd have a chance at the one that really interested me:

https://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/auc_e/ite ... 0050100001

(I'll send a freebie cel to the first person who comes up with the famous line from the manga that is conspicuously not being said at this moment. Rather than censor the scene, the characters suddenly fall silent and thoughtful, and you can hear CCS fans all over the world quietly mouthing the words that one of the characters is thinking not out loud at this moment.)

But the same thing happened: I got it for the opening bid. That gave me some extra funds to raise my reserve bid for something I wanted on the Everyday Auction that came due the same morning.

https://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/auc_e/ite ... 8870100001

Which was good because this is the only one where I got some competition, but happily my reserve bid was strong enough. Condition Green is not a major OVA, but it seems to have been great fun, judging from the Ep. 3 storyboard that I won five years ago (on YJ). The cast is a memorable one including Keith, George, Sho, John, and hapless Eddie, the members of Condition Green, and their alien adversaries, the Emperor Vince, Paula Prairie, and, most unforgettably, Bad Girl.

The storyboard is also likely in the hand of Shigeyasu Yamauchi, who did a lot of work for Dragonball Z and St. Seiya,, among other classic series.

Anyone else? There were nice Miyazaki cels and sketches, plus lots of nice St. Seiya including one that caused quite a dogfight this morning going from a start bid of 15000 up to and over the 100,000 yen mark.
