i'm quite confused. why is the starting price so high? i know it's a bwa item but despite that i still dont get it.

I would guess that it is due to the shear number of cels for sale: A10-A17e,B1-B52e

well I know less than zero about that
series but is states 60 sheets, and apparently
someone thought it was okay since it's been
bid on, Mandarake prices tend to make
me crazy

I would also add that it appears to be the complete sequence of Sakura summoning the Clow staff from episode 21. A lot of people will pay a premium for an entire sequence of anything CCS. Cels from the same sequence(but different episode) typically sell on YJ for about 1000-3000 yen a piece. So, in that sense, it's quite a bargain.

It's also possible that whoever bid on it might really like the Loop card and want anything episode 21 related.

It's about 70 sheets, apparently all complete images, as the A layer and B layer run after each other, not at the same time, the only difference being that the B layer has Sakura's bird-headed wand. So the opening bid price amounts to ca. 500 yen per image. I'd bet a dealer could move most of these images for 1000 yen, maybe 2000-3000 yen for the better ones with open eyes. So I think it's a fair price.

I'm not in this game, however. Ganbatte to those who are.

ah, that would explain the opening bid. was curious though.
