I've been following this race and it looks like us laypeople might actually be able to get into space without all that darn fool book-learning and science nonsense!

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
-I, Robot (Asimov)

strange, thats exactly what my high school career councilor told me
id do it, but id wait a couple of years until they perfect it a little more.

I think it's a great achievement! The whole project only cost about $20 million to get to where it is now. NASA could probably learn a few things about cost-efficiency from them I'd love to be in the SpaceShipOne for it's first "official" trips, but I'd gladly pay for a commercial flight at some point.
It sounds like fun to me, but I would never want to pay over $10,000 to do it. And it'll be a long time before doing something like that will become that "cheap".
Oh really what does fun to him or her but he or she would never want to pay over $10000 to do it sound like?

Hells yeah! Getting humanity into space is something I *really* want to see happen in my lifetime. If I had the money, I'd already be up in the ISS. ;-)
On a similar subject, anyone here read "Firestar" by Michael Flynn? Life imitates art, apparently. I wonder who will be our Mariesa van Huyten...
The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?
Once i'm old and the price for the trip drops to a reasonable rate... I'll do it. ^^ Until then... yeah... I'll just have to rely on that Stargate buried in my backyard. I'm still waiting for McGuyver to come jumpin through it.
