Zenbu Time again!

Post by birdie »

I just got an email Zenbu 24 will be available soon, but it seems this will be just a catalogue thing - no internet visuals - Lottery bidding.

So anyone going for it? :)

You have to buy it to be in the lottery right?

Wow, already? It seems like the last one just ended! Any idea why they're just doing a catalog order this time? Will there be a separate Big Web Auction? I'd order, but I don't think I could afford anything that I really wanted  . Here's the link for everyone:

And can I say OMG 8O for a couple of the previews:

Aaaaarrrgghhhh!! I just sent Mandarake over $600 of my hard-earned money yesterday... and now they tempt me again! :hurt: :hurt: Fie, I say! Fie!!

*crawls off to lick her wounds, and figure out whether she should get the catalog "just to see what's there", or whether it would be Just Too Damn Dangerous*

I don't believe we are going to have another Big Web Auction until December. This quarters Zenbu is for a lottery drawing to decide who gets to buy items at set mentioned prices. I'd hate to buy a catalog though just to find out I didn't win any drawings.

If it's a popular item you'd be less likely to win the lottery for it because more people will put in to get it. :(

It's very confusing isn't it? ?^_^?

The description makes it sound like they have items to bid on in addition to their regular lottery items.

I guess I won't be bidding on any of those To Heart cels. :(

The way it works is you can choose one item you want to auction for and offer as much as you like in the hopes of getting it. They process these, and based on maximum bid prices, and lower bid prices as well, many items go out via this method. I forget the actual calculation on how they determine cost, but it has to do with your lower bid price plus some variable of your maximum over someone else's maximum. I never really understood the point of the lower bid price, as the maximum bid is the one that determines who gets the cel.

Of the items left which nobody tried to get by offering the most, they lottery them. Sadly, I have heard from many people 'in the know' like the infamous P website and others, the lottery isn't actually random by any means. Still, it can be worth a shot. :)

I remember doing a Mandarake auction at their Nakano store. It was one of the cels in the case, and you just dropped your high bid in a box in the store and the highest bid got it. I spend forever trying to come up with a good price, and the night the auction ended I was there and the price listed in the window as 'high bid' was still lower than mine. I went in the next day and the sign said 'sold for xxxx' which was still lower than my max bid, however when I went to pay for it, they told me someone else had won it. I asked how that was possible when my bid was higher than the amount in the window and they said the amount was a mistake or something along those lines.

I never really understood it, I was only bummed at missing the cel. Now I don't try to understand how their process works, but luckily haven't seen anything in about a year I had a real itching to go for.

Ah...okay I see. It's only for the first item that you submit the bid amounts. That makes sense. Well if all the items in the catalog were just straight lottery items then I wouldn't get a catalog, but because of that one issue maybe I will.

I'm still iffy on it though. I wonder what the likelihood of winning something would be after spending the $27.27 for a catalog? :?

I'm going to order a catalog. I decided I have too much money and need to get rid of more of it.

I wish I had your problem, Keropi! :D I don't think I can justify paying $27 for a bidding/lottery drawing that might or might not be rigged... Although I would love to get my hands on those Eva cels. You'll have to post scans so that everyone else can drool at what we're missing!

Okay I'll try to do that! <---This coming from someone that hasn't scanned any cels for the past four months.

Since I don't collect cels from the more popular shows, my odds of winning something should be a bit higher than most.

I'm curious of what they have....but is it really justifiable to spend the money for a book and get absolutely nothing? I'd go for Meitantei Conan and Sailor Moon items...but those seem to be popular depending on the image......

*thinking...... should I buy?*

Has anyone done this before, and could give us an experience they had?
