re: Manslayer, nice to see another fellow Aussie collector on the board mate. Unfortunately, there are not too many of us - we are a very rare breed lol Which part of 'drop-bear' land do you reside in?
Macron, that is indeed the Yurika 'V' Cel that recently featured on Yahoo Japan. The ultimatebrucelee recognised that same cel - I did not realise it would generate that much interest. Like yourself, Yurika is one of my favourite all-time characters. It was just fortunate that at the time of the auction, it was a Good Brokerage week for me, so I could afford to go all out on this wishlist cel.
When you have a spare moment Macron, Manslayer - please check out the Gallery "Gates of Alyssium". It is the creation of Christine, a fellow Aussie collector, which has a sizeable Nadesico Gallery filled with more memorable shots :) Her Evangelion gallery is also quite noteworthy too!!

Thankyou Eternal Squall, I do not have that many Evangelions as yet, but when I saw this Asuka come up, I knew I had to get her. I totally agree with you, this cel manages to encapsulate everything that 'makes' Asuka.......well Asuka. The confidence & attitude, the ferocity, the arrogance. It was a tough bidding war, but got there in the end :hurt: Had to contend with a 'bid-walker' hitting up the price by 1,000yen every 2minutes or so. Auction went 40mins over scheduled finish time!!

Dear Sensei, as always, thankyou for your kind comments. If ever you do find yourself with some spare time to allocate watching a new anime, then may I politely suggest you give "School Rumble" a try sir? Admittingly, the first Dvd did not hook me, in fact at one stage I was willing to forgo & give up on the series. But I ended up purchasing the 2nd Dvd which I enjoyed enough to warrant purchasing the 3rd. After picking up the 3rd and watching the first episode on that disc - I was hooked!! I stopped watching the 3rd & immediately returned to watch discs 1 & 2 all over again, this time with a whole new appreciation. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the quality of the characters, depth & development and storytelling. Twas one of those rare instances where I eagerly awaited each new release.
It is just unfortunate that the studio who creates the series, Studio Comet, pulled the plug on the planned third & final series during the Great 'GFC' to conserve cash. Only the very last two episodes were fully released & these were on a shoestring budget.

Fellow Aussie chimes in

Post by alyssium »

.....did i hear someone mention my name?

I have been offline for a little while, mainly due to my wisdom teeth. Finally had them pulled last week and Im still sore!!!! I had to keep offline from buying and spending all my savings on cels instead of surgery.... you have no idea how hard it was....... I only just got by and only because Silvrdrago was such a sweetie and allowed me to do a large layaway :)

Anyhow enough about me.

I have been watching the updates. I love the new Sabers in Fate Stay night, as wel as the updates in the evangelion and nadesico sections (two more of my favourites!) Keep the updates rolling in!

I also agree Sensei if you havent given School rumble a try you must! All i can say is poor Harima, he was the star of the show for me :)

Manslayer, i havent caught you around on rubberslug or Anime-beta yet. Have you been collecting long? Its nice to know we have another Aussie collector down here.

Note** Quacker, thanks for the mention :)

Two places, Newcastle is home an Emerald Qld thats where I work an here now. Very long car trip back to home an more worry of the damn annoying big hoppers crossing the road than to those drop bears.
True, not many Aussie into cel collecting, just can't understand why is it so -hmmmmmmmmmm-

I have come across "Gates of Alyssium" gallery couple of times checking the Evangelion, Inuyasha, Jubei-chan an other series in her collection. I haven't seen the anime series Nadesico but in my DVD collection an I did watch the movie sometime ago. Alyssium Nadescio cel collection is quite impressive. I have to say, I like this Episode 18. Echoes of Self, Echoes of Water cel.

Alyssium
Well, I haven't forgotten about you Alyssium, I do pop my head in & out of AB plus Rubberslug everyday if I can. An G'day from another true life Aussie. Started around November last year, so pretty new to hobby an hoping to last forever.

Sorry, going to be a no. Personal I like my days off without care in the world an listen to music, compare to the painful 17hours drive getting back home an doing that hour & half more to Sydney will kill me being dead tired :sleep3 , some how doing the trip back north -Oh boy-.

Sydney is the last place I like to go in Aus, never like it when I was working there. I'm not a fan being in the public eye.
-thats just me trying to get out of crowded places- :P

August Update

Post by Quacker »

New Updates to my little Gallery :)

Latest additions include a Super-Cool Fate/Stay Night Rilezu Cel of Saber from an early pivotal moment within the TV series.
There is also a new Asuka Soryu cel from the Evangelion movie, which I was fortunate enough to have signed by both Tiffany Grant & Yuko Miyamura, the voice-actresses who have played this character for well over a decade now.
Also to be uploaded will be some new Escaflowne's & a few Lunar Legend Tsukihime gengas.
Enjoy!!

Very nice additions! You're slowly building a superb collection of Saber rilezu. I'm also impressed that you had the opportunity to have that Asuka cel signed. I hope that you'll continue to add to your Nadesico cel collection as well, as it contains some very nice pieces.

With the Christmas period & corresponding holidays, I finally found some spare time to update my Phoenix gallery with some nice additions collected over the last 3months.

Quite an eccletic mix this time around, with Cels from favourite shows including Nadesico, Project A-Ko and a rare Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu rilezu.
I also started a new "Highschool of the Dead" section; this is the best pure 'action' anime series I have seen for awhile.

Unfortunately I was unable to scan in a treasured Escaflowne cel as I will need to try to attempt a restoration, or at the least repair.
Receiving the cel in person, most of the trace-lines have completely faded as well as suffering from colour-fade. Very disappointing considering the cel itself comes from a crucial scene within the anime series.

Glad someone from Aussie town posting up new material.
Hoping none of the bad weather around Auzs not affected your holidays spirit.
Happy with your lovely Arcueid sketch in your collection :iluvu

That's a great Yurika + Akito cel. I remember that cel being on Yahoo Japan not long after the summer BWA. I was really tempted, but decided not to bid, because i had already just spent quite a lot of money.
I noticed you also entered it in the 2010 cel awards contest. It's a splendid piece, so you have a good chance of winning in the children category i think.

Very pretty Nadeshiko cel:

The original background makes a pretty frame for the funny expressions. Speaking of which...

This A-ko cel has some of the drollest expressions I've seen lately. Life just goes into fast-forward sometimes.

Good comments, too! Thanks for sharing.
