Actually I don't get very obsessive with anime. I generally love manga way more. But theres not a real big difference in the mediums I suppose.
The anime I do fall in love with to the point of obsession I feel are superior to their manga counterparts or theres no manga that its based on. Although theres always exceptions to my self made rule.
My three most recent are:
Such as Sailor Moon (constantly obsessed with this one! ), Blue Gender and, Ghost in the Shell SAC.

Animeobsessed, what is it with Shounen Onmyouji? Why is that anime so damn appealing (looks nervously at avatar, shuffles away a batch of sketches from Kamiya...still reeling from spending the money miz ducky saved me on Anime Cellar early this morning). Perhaps I actually do have a bit of an obsession going with SO...just didn't realize it until a few minutes ago....

I'm not sure about others, but I love the storyline and the wonderful characters in this series not to mention the interaction between Masahiro and Guren/Mokkun/Touda and the relationship between Masahiro and his grandfather. Of course there are the other Shinshou such as Rikugou and Seiryuu that fade in and out and keep everything interesting. As an added plus it's like a revisit of PoT voice actors - Genbu has Ryoma's voice, Rikugou has Eiji voice and Masahiro has Fuji's voice.

Hmm well there are anime I have loved for along time (14+ years) like Laputa and Akira for instance, which I suppose I'm obsessed with as I've watched them both numerous times. Ninja Scroll came along later and I also like Keropi totally fell in love with Video Girl Ai though alot later then her.

Every time I think "maybe I'm too old for this.." I find another awesome anime to obsess over!! It doesn't help that I found crunchyroll.com, either.
And to think this all started with me actually NOT liking DBZ! (Of course, I have since fallen in love with it. )
Lately, it's been Naruto Shippunden. I watched ONE episode to see what the fuss was about and was hooked!
For me I've had a keen interest in Akira, Pokemon, Cyber City, Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Hentai made by Masami Oburi such as Angel Blade and Viper GTS.
My 'obsession' with these titles has been played out through other projects I've involved myself in, paying tribute to these titles.
For Akira, I made a specialist website which ws an ongoing project for years.
For Pokemon I made a video documentary based on its popularity back in the late 90's. I even bought the soundtrack CD which did NOTHING for my street cred :p
For Cyber City I made a music video and planned one for Ninja Scroll [along with a fan site]. Commissioned a Ninja scroll fancel.
With FOTNS I've collected a lot of merchandise from around the world and planned a fanart commission.
With regard to JoJo, I planned a fansite, tattoo design and fanart commission [yet to come to fruition].
As for the Hentai, I've seen through a fancel commission and planned a painting based on the characters which I'll ask a professional artist to knock up.
It goes without saying that I try my best to obtain a lot of production artwork from these shows too and I get competitive when I see any for sale/on auction.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy

things did get worse...
I often go in and out of obsession mode. The degree of the obsession usually changes with time, but for certain titles that I collect, I can easily get re-obsessed very quickly. Like for this whole past year I've been pretty MIA in the cel world and other places online, but after buying a cel or two this year...I feel as though I've finally been able to meet with a dear friend whom I haven't seen in a long time. *crazy* It's good to be back.
My obsession or *ahem* obsessions haven't changed that much over the last year with the main offenders being Prince of Tennis and CLAMP. But, at least my obsessions keep me occupied and happy.

Me too! I guess I would say I'm more obsessed in characters from various series than the series themselves. Sadly too, AO and I tend to obsess over the same guys - Duo, Athrun, Inuyasha, Sasuke, etc., etc., etc.

Yes, it's sad but true. I think I will be adding Zero and Kaname from Vampire Knight to the list. Luckily, so far, I have not seen too much for sale or I would go broke. Not so true with Shounen Onmyouji. I've already went overboard with that series. Yes, I'm completely obsessed by anime.
