The only time a wishlist passed me by (one that I did not conciously let go of) was when I got sniped on auction. I was new back then. But to be more precise several wishlist has passed me by more by my choice than anything else. Just because I didn't pay for it (or don't intend to at that moment) doesn't mean it stopped being a huge wishlist for me. I'm not really talking about funds here, more like my own opinion on how expensive a wishlist can be. I'm not going to go broke on only one or two items and I don't want to experience buyers remorse. Maybe it might sound like it's not a true wishlist to some but sometimes it's not just a matter of "funds" but whether it's "sane" to spend that much on a cel that I have a pretty good understanding of the price for (and my mindset to giving the seller 2 to 3 times premium allowance for the desired cel). I try to have this mindset so I can walk away on a deal that might bring me buyers remorse after the initial high or excitement ceases.
