Where can I get one?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

in the US we call that "one stop shopping"Sylia wrote:Wow, this thread is nuts...
I will tell you something that will make you laugh: In my town in the UK, the gun shop is next to the funeral parlor. I'm sure the two are not actually related, but there is a certain ironic humour in it![]()

Ok, pest control makes sense.Captain Haddock wrote: Well the overt use that farmers have for fireams lcatino is shotguns for pest control (foxes, rabbits, squirels etc). However they also seem to use them for committing suicide. Alongside doctors, dentists and particually vets (for some strange reason, maybe putting fido down all those times takes it's toll!) Farmers seem to be particually prone to it.
I hope you're messing with me about the suicides.

And sorry to hear of your break in as well Sylia. Even with my security system, I feel like I still need added protection.

There have been people who didn't know there was a bad guy in their house and went to get something from the kitchen. That alone triggered the fight or flight and got them dead. Just by being there you have presented an obstacle to them, you have become a barrier between them, your stuff, the pawn shop and their next fix.Sylia wrote:Actual gun ownership doesn't necessarily put you at more risk or less risk than someone who doesn't own a gun, except insofar that you may be targeted by an individual that wants your gun if they find out you have one. Also, if you point a gun at somebody -whether you are the robber or the er.. robbee- you are basically giving them liscense to try and kill you. You have raised the stakes to the point where the other person now thinks of you as a lethal threat to them. Some people have the flight response, others have the fight response... and you've no way of knowing which if you're being confronted by a crazy person. It's worth bearing that in mind before you bear your arms at someone.
Any time you break into someone's house you are putting your life in your hands. If someone is in my house to do my family harm they have given me the license to kill them. They have raised the stakes by intruding on my life and putting my family's safety in jeopardy.
I've never had someone break in to my house and I hope nobody ever will. I don't ever want to have to make the decision to pull a trigger on another human being, that would be a horrible day for me. If anything happens I honestly hope to god that they take my verbal que and GTFO my dwelling so I can let the police handle it.

I'm in the same boat. I've never had a break-in before. However, I've always maintained that I would rather have a gun and not need it, than need a gun and not have it. The only time my pistol leaves my lock box is when I clean it, practice at the range, or re-up my CCW.
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.
Good point NotSirPhobos... I guess it really strengthens the case for having the security on all the time so it can alert you and the police the moment there's an intruder there.
Glad to here your other response also... some of the things before sounded a bit trigger happy, so it's good to know ^^.
Thanks Bell, Icatino, and everyone for your sentiments ^^. My similar sentiments to others who have had burglaries happen also.
I'm really over it now, except for the loss of the jewellery... it still stings when I think about it, and the reasons are personal. Everything else is just inconvenience and frustration. Some people have said to me that being burgled must make you feel 'violated', but I find that a very curious opinion and wouldn't say that myself. I am not the kind to be frightened of people who intend to do me harm, and the experience hasn't changed me and made me more nervous when I'm in my home or anything like that.

That's Horrible! I'm really sorry about the burglars, mina-san! I think Burglars should all choke on what they steal!
I highly Recommend Pitbulls.... Lots of Pitbulls...
They are very smart and you can train them to protect your house and to bark at or bite whoever is trying to break-in..... They are super intelligent! I've even trained mine not to go into certain rooms...
Plaster Signs up! BEWARE of 100 pound Pitbulls... Lol...
