I saw couple of episodes on CN late at night and it looked really good. What do you guys think? Buy the dvds and watch em or not? How many episodes are there in the series? Thanks
Also, if i decide to buy it, is this a good box set?

Did someone say Samurai Champloo???
I think there are 26 (?) episodes. It's fairly short but TOTALLY worth buying and watching.
It's a GREAT series, the original Japanese voices are stunning and the English dub doesn't make me want to run screaming. Plus, two hot guys with swords!!!
Oh...yeah...you're a guy...
There are SPECTACULAR fights, humor, up to date soundtrack (which is hilarious and supportive rather than garishly out of place with the oooooold setting) and the animation is top notch.
Get it get it get it get it!!!

I just came back from a short trip to NYC, and, while I was there, I had the time to watch almost all of Samurai Champloo (YAY! for video Ipod!
). I just need to watch the very last disc, which, somehow, didn't get converted over correctly. (poo)
And, can I just say ...
OMG ... I LOVE THIS SHOW SOOOO MUCH!!
OK. I think I'm done now.
...
Oh, wait ...
JIN!!
OK. I'm good now.

One of the best shows ever. Period.
I will hear no argument on this issue
Not only is the acting great, the concept outstanding and the art just really stunning, but the 3 main characters are never going to leave your head ever again. Which is really something coming from a person who can't remember a detail to save her life!
The music's GREAT, the fighting is bizarrely wonderful, and you have to sit there with the two guys, shake your head and wonder "why the hell are we doing this anyway? huh?" And it matters not in the least why. Because it's THERE.
My personal favorite is Mugen... he's the weirdest thing ever, and I just have a natural affinity to weird.
Buy, watch, enjoy, watch again.

Heh...it really is amazing how many girls love this show (I've even got a few to start watching anime because of it
).
Unfortunately, Sugarflower's right - there aren't any "non-hybrid" box-sets (meaning less than 7 DVD's) out yet.
There's a collector's box for all 7 DVD's though.
I'm personally still waiting for an official box-set release, but it's probably gonna be awhile.

I just finished watching Samurai Champloo and I did like the Anime a lot. However, it isn't the type of Anime that I would sit through twice. I like the animation, the storyline is a bit lacking for my taste. They did a lot of good 1-2 episode segments, but a lot of the episodes, you can just jump in and catch on easily what is happening, since it doesn't talk about the previous episode very often. So, the storyline, in my opinion, did not build up to the ending until episode 24.
