Need your opinion on dealer

Post by kizu »

Hello. I'm trying to start my collection and was looking at advanceagent for some cels. Has anyone bought from advanceagent? How are their prices and how reliable are the cels and service? Thank you for your time! Oh I did look around just to get a feel for prices but I'm new to this and don't have much confidence yet in my own assesments. :x

BTW if this doesn't belong here please feel free to move.

Thanks in advance!

I have only bought once from them and had no problems

Pretty much the same as JWR. I've bought once from them and everything went smoothly.

Wonderful. Two points now. :D BTW I like your icon. The name reminds me of Saitou's sword; Ikeda Settsu Kishin-maru Kunishige. "fierce god's son" :D

I'm sure he's a good seller, but in my experience [which was over a year ago] I asked a question and received no reply.
When sellers do this I usually move to another dealer that will answer my quearies and will only persist if I really want the item[s].

As for the prices, they are OK but it depends on what titles interest you. If you're keen to start with some $10 cels, I wouldn't look at the series that command higher prices because you just can't buy some artwork at that budget.
You'll get to know the cost of things over time; make mental/written notes of all the things that interest you & compare what items are selling for on retail sites and what similar items are selling for on auction. [Ebay, Mandarake and Yahoo Auctions Japan for example].

There are links here on Beta to several online retailers and I'd reccomend doing further browsing too- the main cel dealers based in the west can be found via web searches.

Welcome to the wonderful world of cel collecting, Kizu ^__^

When I first started in collecting dbz, I bought several cels from advanceagent- he was always very polite and easy to deal with, and I got some killer cels. I am not sure if he is still as focused on cels as he was (since he doesn't update much anymore), but from my experience you shouldn't have much to worry about dealing with him :)
