All Region (Format) DVD Player Recommendations Needed

Post by Sugarflower »

I'm looking to buy a stand alone DVD player that is region free (all region)
and will play just about any type of file you throw at it (avi, mpeg-1,2,4, etc.
, mp3, wma, & omg/mkv [if possible]). Does anyone have a recommendation?

So far I've found some possibilities and pretty good bargains for new ones
on eBay. For instance our friends currently have this Toshiba model. Only thing
I don't like about it is I can't watch my official japanese anime dvds since they
are mpeg2 and the player does not play this format. Here is another one
I found on eBay that does accept a few more formats compared to the
Toshiba.

I'm looking to pay $100 or less for a player. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for.

I bought mine from eBay, that exact Toshiba one in fact. Works great. It does pause slightly when switching layers tho. More expensive players don't pause quite as long as the cheaper models, but it's really not a huge inconvenience. I'm satisfied with ours.

Does the auction say that player will not play mpeg2? I only glanced at the auction, so I don't know what the seller gives as specs. We've played DVDs from several different countries with no problem.
