Just like production cels rilezu vary in sizes. Some are a little longer than your average production cel. I have a couple that are HUGE. 8O It just depends on the image you are ordering. Pan shots tend to be bigger and simple portraits tend to fit in your average Ityoa. :)

As Birdie says, they follow the same general sizings as other anime cels. This is because they are made from the standard hand-drawn douga similar to the shows we already collect from.

I bought my first one recently and the douga is 10.5" across by 13" high; it depicts a kneeling character. The cel is therefore the same size as the image on the douga and looks bigger because of the background/frame it is mounted on.

Actually, the item I bought was titled 'reproduction cel' on Mandarake and I'm unsure if that means it's a rilezu? It's by 'Studio Deen'; the matching sketch is numbered 10-110 [the episode number then Cut number] then it has the A1, B3 numbers in the top right corner. Doesn't seem like a numbered repro cel in the 'common' sense of mass reproduction, but I dunno, I'm such a novice when it comes to rilezu... :hurt:

I imagine that some are standardly what we would normally call "movie" size, since some anime is being boradcast in HD nowadays. At least, I've got some One Piece roughs that are wider than normal since they were made for an HD broadcast. :)

I fought the purchase of rilezu for the longest time and now I wonder what the hell took me so long. :emb Mine are either the standard cel size or larger and the quality has been incredible. I'm actually more pleased with rilezu quality more often than production cel quality simply because no lines are faded and it's (hot off the press) if you will. I also like that with many of them you get the matching production sketch (not always). :)

It's Yami to Boushi to hon no Tabibito, or Yamibou for short. I don't kow much about about it, only what I've read on 3 or 4 websites. It's not a style I'd usually go for either but couldn't resist the image/character and based on the blurb from the show, I'd actually watch it if I had the opportunity!

The cel I got is here on my gallery and I found the link to it in the originator's sale site too: Office F&O under episode 10.
BTW, thanks goes out to Kata who emailed me with a little more iinfo on Rilezu cels. Ta!
She mentions that 'clean-up' dougas are usually made for rilezu which combine all layer elements into a single image. That explains why my douga that came with the cel was very crisp, like a hanken sketch.

There was one bad thing I have to say about the the rilezu I have.
The black trace line quality is poor. Close up it looks jagged/streaky, very much like it was fed through a cheap printer. When buying rilezu, you're obviously not paying for the technical quality of the piece only for the time of the artist who draws the douga and adds colour to the cel.

My only Rilezu was made by that company. I've complained about the poor quality of my Rilezu, and it seems like the complaints from others are coming from series that company makes. I've heard good things about madoka and the other companies, but yet to purchase another one.

Problem with my cel was the lines had air bubbles. The black lines have holes in them, so it doesnt have a solid black line.
Ive seen the same series cels having those jagged lines too. I'm kind of used to seeing that even with the later of the cel based series like Inu Yasha.
