Uh -huh! Yep, and it was my very first cel.. haha!

My little Zodd cel put me on a payment plan and that was Day 1 in my collecting diary. But i love him so much, and he kick-started me into wanting more and more and more and more and more and more and more.... *blush*

Yes, he's not the cuddliest guy around, but he makes great conversation and knows how to scare off the neighbours.

If I cannot afford it, I don't buy it. While payment plans seem nice...they scare the bejesus out of me. I typically neither ask for them, nor accept them.

I have never been on a payment plan mainly because I worry that what if some complication would occur I would be out my previous money. Also the problem is if the payments plans are streched to long (3-4+ months) at this time if the seller turns out to be a con-artist and doesn't deliver the cel/sketch I wouldn't be able to obtain all the money I paid (espically the early payments) even i wanted to. Seems to risky.

Would I accept a payment plan if i was to ever sell an item? It would really depend. I'd say it have to be either a crazy amount of money OR the persons offer is well above others. But I would be willing to take a pay cut 5-10 or more depending on the piece in question to get all the money faster. That much I am certain.

No, I've never been on a payment plan for cels. I figure I'm on enough payment plans in life that I don't need one more. (mortgage, misc personal loans, etc.) I'm in the boat of if I don't have the money, I just don't buy.

I don't find payment plans scary at all as long as every thing is perfectly laid out in advance to any money exchanging hands. I accept payment plans for amounts of $200 or more but I make sure my buyers know exactly when I expect the money, etc. I don't allow my payment plans to drag on. I don't except them to go any longer than 2 months.

I just did my first payment plan with another member of the board (I wont name names) for the amount of $500.

The plan I made was over the course of 2 months though and I am fairly confident I will get my stuff.

I've only done a payment plan once, and that was for my 2 OLS cels (Gene and Melfina). I don't do it often, but if I need to I will.

(Like right now Im currently trying to get a payment plan on this cel that has caught my eye---cause Im broke! :x :P )

Well in the past I have used them on a couple of occasions when I wanted to buy multiple items mostly VHDB though which ones I couldn't exactly tell you. That was when I knew even if I didn't have the money there and then I'd be certain that I'd have it coming in so there was no real risk to me or the dealer. Nowadays with money being tighter my cel buying has become sporadic and small scale so I can't afford to indulge in such luxuries as payment plans. Odd that they were a thing I used when I had more money... :?

i've never been on a payment plan myself, but i always offer them for large purchases. maybe because the payment is less painful that way. :P

I have never purchased anything expensive enough that I needed a payment plan. 8) All my cels are bargain priced  (Relatively)

I made payments on only one cel in my collection (and still my most expensive purchase). The term was for 3 months, but I paid it off in two-ish. During that time I kept thinking how dumb I was for buying something I could not really afford. :(

I won't ever do that again. Rule #1 to myself for this hobby: No money? No cel! Period. Look away!

Although you might regret it, you'll never get into debt! :)

Generally, if I can't buy it outright, I can't afford it.

That said, there have been two exceptions. Mainly, because of the amount of money and the quality of the cels involved. The first was in spring 2004 for a set of cels and the second was in winter 2005 for a single cel.

I agree that when there is a lot of money on the line it can be very risky to make a payment plan. Luckily, I was able to work things out. The first seller was someone I had done a lot of business with before so I knew they were reliable. I did not know the second seller so the transaction was handled through a third party that we both were comfortable with.

I've done 3 (that I remember at least ). One I slept on the decision and was extremely worth it. The other two were around holiday times, so it more convenient on my part.
