Buyer Beware: "Phil's Cel Page"

Post by Nene »

I'm absolutely fuming over this purely because this guy has denied claims that are blatantly obvious.

Here is his gallery:
http://pcp.rubberslug.com/gallery/home.asp

He has sent all his cels to a deputy service to sell on YJ. I bought a cel from him on YJ back in August . He's selling via a deputy service, but I want to make it clear that I have no problem whatsoever with said deputy since they have done all they possibly can to assist me with this seller. They have been communicating with him on my behalf and can't get a resolution, but in no way do I blame the deputy and I am grateful for their help.

This is the seller's original photo/scan of the cel I bought:

I'll make it known that the deputy don't scan the cels themselves since they rely on their customers to be honest and send up-to-date pictures to them. So again, no fault on the deputy for uploading this picture on their auction.

This is my scan of the same cel (click to see larger version):

Image

I think the pictures speak for themselves but the cel shows significant line fade that wasn't visible in the auction picture. It's either an old scan or an edited one. According to the deputy, the seller denies the line fade and refuses to give a refund.

I won't publically point out individual YJ auctions that this seller currently has running, for privacy reasons to the deputy, but if you look at his gallery you can spot them on YJ when you run your cel searches. I'm skeptical over the real quality of all his cels if he denies line fade on the one he sold me, so buyer beware.

Well, I won this auction of his for this cel still listed in his gallery:

http://pcp.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_i ... mID=154980

Maaaany months ago -- still no cel in sight.

I know the deputy service your referring to -- I hope my issue gets resolved as I haven't paid for it yet, but my deputy has......

This'll be my first HUGE loss if I end up having to pay with nothing to show for it :x

Good Luck Nene!!

I don't think any of the YJ deputies make you pay for an item if they never receive it.

Ouch, Samia. x.x

Good luck to you too, I hope you either get the cel or your deputy can get a refund from this guy.

Well, the last time I had a 'no show' on an auction I won that my deputy, and then I, paid for (another AMG cel -- go figure :? ) my deputy said that since he was refunded -- I'll be refunded, too.

So, I'm just assuming that I might lose out on the $$ -- I'm glad I may not loose the $$ but I'd really rather have the cel :l

This is really too bad that Phil has become such an unreliable person. He used to be a decent member of the cel community. I wonder what happened? Of course, that still does not give him the right to stiff both the deputy service and the buyers...

I don't know if it's just his AMG with the issues, but I bought 3 Fushigi Yuugi cels over the summer from his deputy's auctions (also is my deputy) and received them without any issue. They appeared just like they did in the auction pics.

Hope it works out for you both, samiamew and Nene! :(

Both were beautiful and I was not disappointed, hope everything works out

I will attest to the fact AMG TV cels have line fading issues. I had an URD cel that did that too :/

Oy. I'm so sorry to hear about this. I remember when he was just taking offers on his gallery and I made several offers on his AMG stuff. He said they were too low so I asked what price he had in mind and I'd love to work with him since I really wanted the cels. He just threw up his hands and said they would go to deputy. His tone and the way he worded things were a bit much in his emails. I just wasn't impressed with his personality at all.

The auction was obviously misleading. I can't believe the difference in cel quality. Very disappointing. Keep us posted on how things go. I hope you get your money back. :?

to hear about this is not a big deal.

The same thing happened to me when I offered through his gallery and I didn't get a very good impression either. He either ignored my emails or replied that the offer wasn't high enough and wouldn't respond to counter-offers or queries about what he'd like to get for the cel. He seemed like he really just wanted to wash his hands of everything and not even deal with the buyers himself. Something amusing though is that my last offer for this Urd cel was actually more than he got by selling it on YJ. I guess I can count myself somewhat lucky that I didn't pay my offer price for it.

It seems like a lost cause with the refund for me, I just hope Samia doesn't end up out of pocket. x.x

Same here.
I’m also not happy with one of the cels I won from this person a while ago on YJ.
After receiving the cel there was some paint missing and huge line fading.
The auction was stated as *状態は良好です* that means the state is good, but it wasn’t. X|

Currently he tries again to sell some stuff on YJ.
He is using again the Celga ID: curiousinjp

Fake AMG
http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l5064045
one of my friends owns the real A5.

This one has some paint missing: http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g62190712

I suggest just not to bid on this person's items.

Good luck to everyone for getting those things solved.

I presume everyone in this thread with a gripe against this guy has been in touch with the deputy selling the cels? If not, perhaps one of Celga's customers should forward a link to this thread to them. :?

I'm surprised that they would sell cels that aren't in their hands... I've never used them to sell any of my stuff, but I thought you had to send the item(s) to them in order for them to sell for you. I guess I was wrong!

Don't get me started on Celga. I too am surprised though that a deputy would sell without the cel in hand or ....if the cel is in hand why post such an old image? I think if Celga didn't have the cel in hand then they aren't entirely innocent in this. They took a huge chance. If they did have the cel in hand then they are every bit as much to blame for using a different image. :? In the past if I used a deputy to help me sell they always required that I send the cel to them and I don't blame them. They need to make sure the item shown is in fact in good condition. I guess we've learned two things from this thread now haven't we? :roll
