Hello,
I'm a newb to Anime-Beta. Nice too meet you all, I've heard wonderful things about this forum.
I had a question about leaving my cels in a Will. I know that's slightly morbid but a question that has been on my mind is I want to leave my cels to an art gallery, but I really don't know where to look.
No members of my family want them, I'm the only one whom collects them.
Thanks for everything!
Hello!
I always thought it'd be fun to start a cel museum. Want to help me start?
Seriously though, I think you're actually interested in a museum instead of a gallery. There aren't a ton of museums that would display them, though. Asian-American museums in the US like the one in San Francisco would be most likely to accept such an exhibit.

i was actually thinking of what id do if something happened to me. no one in my family (well i dont have really any family left but) none of my friends either collect cels (or even care about them)....
ive been wondering what do myself.

It's a great question, especially since your family members may not know what to do with these pieces of art after you pass. We all have an idea of the value, but to the layman...they're painted plastic lol.
A museum idea is an interesting one
I've also thought about possibly directing them to be auctioned off for charity, if something should happen.

I've thought about it many times.
Luckily, my family does know their worth, so that helps
somewhat. The only thing I have really told my family,
though, is in case something happens, they know to
come here first to see about selling them. The only
other thing I have specified, is that my Hikaru No Go
collection goes to Linda (AnimeJewell). I would be
happy knowing they are going to someone who would
truely appreciate them.

Thank you for the responses! Hey Killua if we had a place I'd take you and everyone else up on that. It takes allot of collectors to open a museum and the collective contribution of everyone, I think we do it
It's too bad that the cel art has not been recognized as some of our culture art. Especially since it has become apart of anyone's culture that collects and excepts it. I mean, aren't we making history as we go along?
I suppose though collectors it has been excepted but it's just unfortunate there isn't much of a place for it to go unless I send it back to the art companies that produced it or perhaps like Gonzai said put it into a will for someone whom will appreciate it if we can find someone.
I also thought perhaps putting them back into circulation by sending them to a seller I would want to sell them as well.
Thanks again for the warm welcome and all of the responses, your a great group of people, I thought I was all alone for a minute.

Welcome Howl! Its a fun place to spend some time, alot of great people hang here
As for your interesting question about the will, I guess I'm lucky in that my son loves anime and knows exactly what cels I have, he even has 2 Itoya full of his own collection. For a young kid he has a good sense of their value too. I know my cels will be well placed when that time comes....
