Hallmark Ornaments

Post by jcaliff »

I don't know if anyone else here collects Hallmark ornaments. I love getting them each year, even though I'm a non-religious Jew. ;) I just got this year's dream book in the mail (had my old address or I would have probably gotten it a while ago). Just two weeks left until the July debut! There are only a few on my must-have list this year. I am absolutely going to get the Eeyore ornament and the Swedish Chef, and I'm seriously considering the 60th anniversary Peanuts ornament, Toy Story, Kung-fu Panda, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Ghostbusters ECTO-1 ornaments.

I might buy the Scooby Doo ornaments for my nephews who are TOTALLY into Scooby Doo lately. I just wish I had someone close to me with a new baby, because the peapod ornament is just about the most adorable baby's first Christmas ornament EVER!

I'm a little disappointed, because even though there are a few Pixar ornaments this year (Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Cars), there aren't any for Up. I was really hoping for a house with balloons, preferably with additional mini ornament set of four characters (Carl, Russel, Doug, and Kevin) that you could attach to it. Would have been so cute!! But they didn't make any at all. :(

Hector the Collector loved these things with all his soul,
Loved them more than shining diamonds, loved them more than glistenin' gold.
Hector called to all the people,"Come and share my treasure trunk!"
And all the silly sightless people came and looked...and called it junk.

As someone who works in a Hallmark store I have seen some crazy things happen at ornament premieres. My mom has bought me one every year, usually a Snoopy one. People give me strange looks though when I tell them I can only have one. I have seen people come out with six bags and having spent aborund $1000.
It eluded us then, but ...tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms further...and one fine morning- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
