rilezu cel question

Post by jyuohsei »

If you order a rilezu cel from a production company, when they ship it to you. Will the painted cel's paint stuck to the background? I am new to rilezu cel, and it's kind of hot right now. When you received it from your mail, will the actual cel paint be stuck to the background?

Thank you for your reply kathpatty. ( ^_^ )

Oh, which means the production company did not put another clear cel behind the paint to cover it, or protect it?

It depends on! Some of mine do have another clear piece of acetate behind the painted cel so it wont stick to the background. I have some with and without that extra layer.

Which means some production company actually do use extra layer of acetate to put behind the paint of the cel to protect it, right? But I am sure after some time, the paint of the cel will stick to that, am I right? Will that be OK, then?

The paint eventually will stick to the other extra layer sadly, but that's whith all cels Rilezu, Reproduction cels and Production cels and the only way to avoid that is to use layers of cel bags in between each layer of cel.

thank you so much for your help. ( ^_^ ) I am so new to this and I have so many stupid questions. ( >_< )

If you use layers of cel bags, will it be stuck to the cel bags later?

Don't worry! People learn by asking questions ^_^

The cel bag layer as long it's acid free cel bags they usually don't get stuck to the paint. For cels I recommend polypropylene cel bags. You can cut some bags up in size of the cels that you want to seperate and put them in between the cel layers to keep them from sticking to eachother.

One seller on eBay sells some good cel bags. He is called "intenseanime"
Here is one of his auctions for the 11x14 cel bag size:

Now there are some cel bags that I would not recommend for cels, but they great for sketches and they called mylites2 and are a little more on the expensive side. But those are really good for sketches, cel wise they get stuck eventually to the paint of the cel. A friend learned that the hard way :(

Hope this helps!
