Yeah I know that this game can be extremly competative and such, but to come so close to an absolute wishlist just to have it slip through your fingers the way I did is even worse.
So I saw a cel in a private gallery (Non RS)
I contacted the seller and made a fairly large offer on it. They accepted right away and I sent my deposit. I watched as the beauty was taken off of the website and I was told it was on hold (WOOHOO!)
I get an email this morning saying that they were not going to honor our deal and send back my deposit since someone else made a higher offer....
I dont know if they want a bidding war or not but man....thats a kick in the ribs.
But it will just have to slip through my fingers for now, since I offered my max.
Sigh...Sorry, I had to vent on that. It was the first and I am sure it will not be the last in this economy.
So effin heart broken T__T

I don't blame you for being upset. A deal is a deal. The seller gave up the right to back out of it once they took your money. In fact, I would go further and say once they said "yes" and before the money is even sent there really is no honest way to renege on an arrangement and sell to someone else.
I had a dealer pull something similar a while back. Needless to say, I will never do business with him again.
I am sorry to hear that this happened to you.

I agree with graymouser... you have every right to be upset. A deal like that is definitely a deal.
It sucks that people are doing these sorts of things lately -- I actually also had this done to me by a private seller this year. I hadn't sent any money, but we had an arrangement worked out, and were just working out the minor details of shipping and such. In my case, the seller out of the blue asked me if I would offer more, since they had all of a sudden gotten a higher offer than mine. Of course, I politely refused.
Sickly enough, a couple of months later, the same seller contacted me about the same cel ... because the other buyer had backed out of their deal. HA. Poetic justice, I say.
Anyways, you'll probably have another chance at your wishlist eventually, so don't give up!

hahaha I think the last seller I ousted for doing this would never contact me to sell any of their artwork again. It was for the best though LOLzerospace wrote:I agree with graymouser... you have every right to be upset. A deal like that is definitely a deal.

Hopefully they will send you your money back.. I find it hard to trust people in general that pull shit like that. A deal is a deal. When you accept someones offer, thats it. You honor it. When you put a price on an item you honor it. People like to skrew people over like this because they don't have to deal with sellers face to face. Id like to see one of these assholes try to do this type of shit in person. Thats right... they wouldnt. Bunch of pussies.
I wish you luck on getting a chance at your wishlist again. def. let us know if they dont send back the deposit. @_@

Ugh it's one thing for a collector to do this but it's unacceptable when a cel dealer does it. That's poor business practice if you ask megraymouser wrote:I had a dealer pull something similar a while back. Needless to say, I will never do business with him again.

That's very uncool of the seller to back out of this deal. Once you agree on a price - that's it. I know that I've sold items in the past for less than I've been offered, simply because the first people I wrote back to and agreed to sell to offered less than a later bid. That's the way the cookie crumbles (at least if you are an honorable person).
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Don't let it sour your attitude toward the community as a whole, though.

That situation has happened to me before, and it really sucks. Even worse, the seller started a bid war on my behalf w/o asking me... and the deal went well into 5 figures. The seller then split the set, and I got 1 of 7 cels for 1/2 the price of the whole set originally accepted offer. Worse, the person who bought them tried to sell them to me a month later. No, I didn't get them. No, I never bought anything from that seller again.
I really don't like it when people don't stand by their own word. It's not an honest way to do business.

So, apparently, The person who made the higher offer has backed out of the deal and now the seller is sending me around 10 emails trying to see if I am still interested. Needless to say I sent an email saying I wouldnt support this kind of activity and that I wouldnt purchase from them again.
I have found a sequence mate and so far the owner is highly interested. The only thing is that the background isnt original but a copy. But I am just glad that I can have this dream cel. im just waiting to confirm the transaction.
I hope this taught them a valuable lesson in ethics and trading but I see that this might be happening a lot more since times are so hard.
But as many of you said, thats no excuse lol
Thank you all for your support
