Cephiro Community College Celebrates Halloween

Post by sensei »

Actual unedited post from Sensei's campus-based email:
As we continue to add Crestron control systems to classrooms and labs we sometimes find that the radio-frequency (rf) touchpanels that are used to control the systems are interfering with each other. Consequently the system in a classroom or lab that you are using may inexplicably turn itself on or off, change inputs or generally act as though it’s haunted. Fixing the problem is not difficult in that all we have to do is change an ID code in the touchpanel but we need your help in determining what systems are affected.

If you teach or otherwise use a classroom or lab that inexplicably turns itself on or off or changes inputs, or know of someone that is having that problem please let me know. I can then work with Kristal and Amanda to map out what systems are affected and find the right ID codes to make things work properly. Thanks for your help and sorry for the inconvenience.
Y'know. I have had problems with my PowerPoint suddenly going blank in class, but I never put two and two together and blamed it on the ghost in the shell.

A while back we had in a car in our shop that seemed possessed. It was a new Mercedes S600 V-12 that could only reach a top speed of 40 MPH and had an extremely rough idle.
The tech diagnosed it as a problem with the engine wiring harness which we ordered out and installed. The problem was exactly the same.
So over the next week they replaced control units , catalyst converters and several other parts amassing over $20K in parts and labor and still no fix. (Good thing it was covered by warranty).
Finally we ordered another engine wiring harness , this time having it made in Germany. Put that in and still no change.
Before the next step of calling in an Exorcist we pulled the wiring diagram and discovered that back in germany when making the harnesses the wires to 2 connectors had been assembled in reverse order (Diagram shows wire by color codes such as black with yellow stripe ect) the effect was that the left and right banks of the the ignition system were firing in the wrong sequence. Seems the blueprint for assembling the harnesses in Germany had the order flipped for those 2 connectors. X|
