Hello everyone,
After stalking the cel shops many, many years ago, I'm at a loss as to which ones are still CURRENT and update their stock periodically.
I know that cels have more or less dried up, but I'd love it if people can share some of the stores (very few I'm guessing) that update.

Takamura Store is the most active updater (new stock announced regularly on Beta.
Asylum Anime also brings in fresh stock pretty regularly, though I think it is most often sold first at his stand at cons. Then, if it does not move right away, it eventually shows up at the online store.
Anime Link also gets fresh infusions from time to time.
While the supplies of cels have dried up to some extent, in my opinion a more immediate reason for dealers not updating as often is the increasing access of Western collectors to Japanside auctions and stores through deputy services. While I still occasionally check dealers' sites, often I find that I can get a better selection at better prices by keeping an eye on my auction "trap line."
But as dealers can use contacts to watch for out-of-the-way series that a good customer collects, it's a good idea to share a wishlist with them. As I'm beginning to look for pre-90s series that I think are interesting and significant, I've found dealers to be more useful here than in getting items from the well-known 90s shows.
And, as others have noted, gallery offers are becoming an increasingly important source, as people who collected avidly ca. 2000-05 when supplies were flush now are starting to cash in their treasures. So it's still a good time to collect, though it takes more ingenuity than it once did.

It's hard to finds stores that are still in business. When I look up links online, most of them are dead. ^^;;
