Is there an update on this situation? I see people are bidding on the eBay
auction, so I'm curious. Did the YJ seller reply? Can we determine if this is
a scam or not at this point? Thanks! :)

I was wondering the same thing. I've been watching the auctions and this thread out of curiosity. I hope that people don't get taken for a ride on either auction. :?

I thought that when you ask a question to a YJ seller about a particular auction that question is automatically shown on the auctions page? I think that YJ auction has also been relisted yesterday or the day before. I hope we get an answer soon.

I bought my framed Kenshin cel from Kaoru on YJ directly from her without going through the deputy.. Its very possible that its the same person.
She is Chinese and I think she's actually in Hong Kong but not entirely certain because its been a while. I just know she definitely wasnt in Japan and my package came from China. Just like us, someone would have to help her but that item from YJ if the seller didnt ship internationally

Her english is also nearly perfect.

Maybe she just wants to get rid of it and is posting in both places to see which sells first.
Of course, its a bad idea cause someone could bid on both, but one could be cancelled.

If you want, since Ive bought from the seller before and can say something like "oh remember me?"
I could do that

But if you read through this thread, the seller on eBay had an excuse for
why he was selling the cel. Which was different than what he says in
the auction description, hence why Kittens contacted the YJ seller.

Jenn-b contacted the eBay seller and got this:
jenn-b wrote:I asked and got the response that:
Yes, that's my friend who asked me to sell it on eBay
because he's got communication problems and cant speak
english.

Hope that helps.
But I still think it's a bad thing that it is for auction on two sites. Plus, that seems a little contrary to what the auction states:
I bought from Yahoo! Japan through a website service (togo-shop dot com) which helps me acquire this cel for $800USD++ including the shipping and fees!
Which is why I feel it was a scam and wanted to know if anything was resolved :shrug
I don't think the YJ seller and the eBay seller are the same person or
associated, judging by the circumstances.

That's what made me suspicious WC, two different things were being said by the ebay seller. Perhaps the ebay seller has a fancel of this cel and is trying to sell it off as the original. I wish we could get down to the truth behind it all.

When it re-listed I posted my question again.... So one canfind out my question (my id at YJ is kittensalgorithmjp).

I also asked the seller on ebay as well....

I have been trying to get the answer as much as I can but both of them kinda ignoring me....

Yeah the seller at YJ is a chinese lady and it seems that her Japanese is not really good... So maybe I should post it in English as well....

I do really think it is a scam.....

I wish I had read this thread sooner: I have bought Kenshin cels from the Y!JP seller before. And today, of all things, I totally pruned out old messages in my email inbox, including all of my correspondance with her. Otherwise, we could contact her directly through email.

Yes, she lives in Hong Kong, and once told me she used to take numerous trips over to Japan to collect Kenshin items, but that now her affinity for collecting had passed, and that she was looking to sell off the rest of her collection. So it is possible that she is so eager to get this cel sold that she has enlisted the aid of someone else to double-list it by putting it up on Ebay. At the same time, it seems very odd for her to have it listed without a reserve and such a low minimum- especially since she typically sets large minimum bids for her cels on Y!JP and almost always has a BIN on them.

Still, guess we can't be sure until we hear from her. Gah- I can't BELIEVE I only today deleted all her emails, after I had kept them in my inbox for more than a year >_<x

Well Ive been reading this thread and checked on the Ebay auction. Seems like the seller ended it so maybe they are just going on YJ? :shrug

I dont know but thanks for bringing this to everyones attention. Im not a Kenshin collector myself, but it is still good to know everyone watches everyones back.

Also just out of curiosity, did you ever get a reply Kittens?

I wonder if eBay pulled it or if the seller wasn't making their $800 for it. :P

I think if eBay had ended the auction, it would have been deleted from their
system. I think the seller willingly ended it. I'm guessing one of two things
happened: 1) he received an offer directly from a potential buyer and
decided to "sell the cel" off of eBay, or 2) all of the contacts he's received
and the attention that has been drawn to him might've forced him to give it up.

I'm glad because I honestly don't think this auction was legit. He was
either selling a fancel that looked similar or was flat out going to take
someone's money. His stories were never consistent, double posting is
never a good idea, the fact that only one of the several photos
posted in the YJ auction was used (and rather poorly), and the completely
different prices (a high minimum bid plus buy out price versus a VERY LOW
minimum bid with no reserve). If this had been consignment, the auctions
should've looked identical and the "reasons" why he was selling would've
correlated with one another. Nothing added up. If the YJ seller had replied,
we could've known for sure. This is just my conjecture.

Should we keep an eye out and make sure this doesn't happen again? :?
