Oh wow. It's unfortunate that not much warning is given, especially if the epicenter and focus was over 100 miles away. Japan is on a fault so that definitely doesn't help that matter much. It's a good thing the tsunamis were rather weak, and wasn't a repeat of what had happened in Indonesia back in December 2004.

Hope for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.

Yea, read about this at comcast website. Apparently 1 person died thus far. Japan is one of the most hit countries with Earthquakes. I can just imagine the piles of cels/sketches during the shake.... :x

I thought it was a mistake when the news man said a 6" tsunami.
J and I laughed at that. How can you tell a 6" tsunami from the normal tide??

When I lived in Okinawa we had a few little earthquakes. I thought some one was shaking my chair at work one day and then I realized it was an earthquake when I saw that there was no one else in the office at the time.
The only crazy thing that happened when I lived there was Super Typhoon Bart.

ugh... that's a big one!

Not the six inch tsunami :puzzled but the quake itself. I hope recovery isn't going to be a horror show...

I just checked USGS and they're now recording it as 6.7 . Still mighty large!
