Video Playback Problems

Post by Keropi »

I hate to bother you guys, but I've been trying to figure this out for an hour and a half. I have a feeling it's something simple that I'm missing.

Last night I was having some problems playing an MKV file so I updated with my usual Lazy Man's Guide to OGG Media website update which is:

ffdshow - July 3rd 2005 version
Lazy Man's MKV - July 10th 2005 version = mkvinst_b97.exe
OggDS 0.9.9.5

After I installed the updates, the MKV file that was giving me problems worked fine. Well today I went and installed my GeForce 5700 LE video card. Everything works good except that all my anime files now look bad as if I'm using a very old codec or something. The video files all look very whitish as if everyone is in a thick fog, the colors almost look like something from an old CGA monitor and there is a lot bad ghosting. I've reinstalled codecs and drivers and tried to adjust the video card settings, but it always looks the same playing anime videos.

Anyone have any idea what's causing this? X|

Interesting. When did you go and installed his or her GeForce 5700 LE video card?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I'm sorry I can't help you. But I'll keep an eye on this thread. One for info and two hoping you can work it out.
One thing I've never understood with stuf like this though is that sometimes things don't work without there being a good reason. :(

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

On a different subject. What new codec has come out recently?

I'm not able to play Shinsen's Erementar Gerad 26 fansub or AssSubs Noein 2 at all. Are these H.264? Anyone know? ?^_^?

Thanks for that link. That'll come in very handy in the future. I am still getting a "the specified module could not be found" error for Gerad 26 however.

Well...not that a big thing since I've already seen it, but I did want to know the specifics on what they said.

As for Noein 2...I actually hadn't finished downloading it yet. Heh. Hazukashii. :emb :sweatdrop :emb
