Do You Have Family Members Who Like Anime?
I was just posting at another topic post and brought up the fact that my mother loves Inu Yasha. I was thinking how lucky I am to have a close family member who likes anime with me. Does anyone else have any family members who likes a particular anime or anime in general?

My cat Temperance I call her Tempe for short.

My cat Seeley is a Sailor Moon fan, too!
I didn't anticipate on having a black female cat and a white male cat or I would have named them Luna and Artemis... oh well.

My stepbrother kind of likes it. But he only likes the dark, brooding stuff *sigh*. My mom thinks it's creepy and weird that I still watch "cartoons".
I kind of got my roommate to watch Inu Yasha with me. I just sent my BF home with my Nightwalker DVDs, Vampire Hunter D, and Tokyo Babylon to try and get him hooked.

The reason I started watching anime was because of my 2 girls. We are always discussing anime series, characters. etc. or watching a new series together. It has definitely helped us get through those *teen years* without the "my mom embarasses me" syndrome.

Yep!
My husband watched almost all of Fushigi Yugi with me, believe it or not! We just finished up Last Exile, and he's watched Yukikaze and Outlaw Star. Oh yeah, and we watched all of Kenshin together (he actually let me buy the last eight dvd's all at once so we could see the end!). And he watched Dragon Kings.
BUT, there's no way you could get him to watch Weiss Kreuz, Mirage of Blaze, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Orphen, Soul Hunter, much of Ranma (he watched up to the first skating competition and then ran away), and certainly nothing girlie like Hana Yori Dango, His and Her Circumstances or I, Me, My Strawberry Eggs!
But, hey, that's all right with me. At least he watches some, and kind of understands where the cel obsession came from.
It's good to have some support at home!

All the Ghibli Movies except My Neighbor the Yamadas
Nausicaa
I Can Hear the Sea
Kare Kano 1-5 and 16
Memories ~ Magnetic Rose
Maison Ikkoku
Hana Yori Dango
Cowboy Bebop Knocking on Heaven's Door (theater)
Castle of Cagliostro
Ghost in the Shell
Roujin Z
Tenchi Muyo in Love
Touch Movies 1-3
Jin Roh
Macross Plus
Macross DYRL
Kanon
Blood Movie
Please Save My Earth
Refrain Blue
Rurouni Kenshin First OVA
Spriggin
Who's Left Behind
Rail of the Star
Barefoot Gen
X Movie
Battle Angel
Blue Sub #6
El Hazard First OVA
Giant Robo
Gunbuster
Kite regular version
Hikaru no Go 1-?42
Twin Spica
He liked just about all of them except for Kite. I don't know what I was smoking when I decided to show him Kite.
He probably liked Hana Yori Dango, Rurouni Kenshin First OVA and Grave of the Fireflies the most.
There hasn't been much that I wanted to show him lately. There hasn't been anything that was really appropriate for him.

No. They can't get past the "It's a cartoon"-idea.
But they do fully respect my point of view.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

My son is as madly into anime as I am. Sitting down and watching a few eps of a series is one of those things that we do together, in fact I rather look forward to spending time with him as we talk about the shows we have just watched. (Also cos I prefer subtitled anime it forces him to read at speed and I think it has improved his reading skills, even though sometimes it can be a rather dubious version of English that he has taken in).
My partner is of the opinion "Oh not another one" but she did seem to enjoy YYH.

So much for shutting up... insomnia is a lovely thing.
Yes! The two girls love anime and Spouzal Unit (tm), while more particular about what he likes than I am, has a neat little collection of figures and plushies of his own over on his desk. He also has an outstanding Lain wall scroll at work, which gets comments...

I wouldn't say that they have an interest, so much that whenever I'm hogging the TV, a family member may decide to sit and watch an episode of something...then promptly complain that the plot to too crazy for them, and 'why is that girl's hair electric blue?' (or other such comments).
But if I had to venture a guess, I'd say that my dad liked Slayers the best, and my mom thinks Fruits Basket is cute.

My dad likes anime the most out of all my family members... He likes Tenchi and Lupin III and has seen a few movies with me. But some dtuff he just doesn't like. Like DBZ.
My mom has the "it's a cartoon" syndrome, but she approves of cel collecting. I often ask her opinion about cels and stuff. It's sorta funny cuz we have confliccting tastes.
My sister is not a fan of anime at all. She did like Spirited Away though.
