I used to have a list of my favorite anime endings, but I don't know what I did with that list.

I'd say my all-time favorite anime ending is Maison Ikkoku. That was an extremely satisfying ending and worked out perfectly.

Hana Yori Dango had a great ending too. One thing that I loved about it was that even when I watched up to the middle of the last episode I still didn't know where they were going to go with it. That was a funny and amusing ending.

El Hazard First OVA had a very nice ending.

I really liked the ending of the Kakyuusei TV series. It was very touching and sweet.

As for my favorite ending from the past year of anime, I might have liked the Midori no Hibi ending the best. That was a nice one. And that was an anime-only storyline too.

As far as best/closure/favorite endings go, not to be cliche, but Cowboy Bebop takes it for me...

I have to say Gravitation since it one of the few I've seen that really had an ending and was happy *include the OVAs*...I love a good love story, even yaoi.

I don't know if it was my favorite ending, but considering the style of the rest of the series, I thought the ending of FMA was marvelously done.

Eeep ... at the risk of being stoned ...

I loved the ending to Fushigi Yuugi --- the series (not including the OAVs). I just thought it was so neat, and ... yes ... romantic when Taka showed up wearing the ring. *hides in embarassment*

I also thought the ending to Card Captor Sakura was very sweet. I know it didn't truly "end" end ... but it did bring things to a fairly good resolution. At least, I thought so.

EDIT: Oh ... and I liked the ending to Rah-xephon ... but only because I took Aernath's advice and watched all the way through the ending credits on the series. Otherwise, I would've been disappointed in the ending. Oooh .. and Pretear! Sheesh ... how could I forget Pretear? What an adorable ending!

The best endings to series
-Fushigi Yugi (by far my favorite 'happy ending' anime

)
- Serial Experiment: Lain (I almost shed a tear when I saw Lain watch adult Alice walk by

)
- Vandread (WoooO!

Such a fun series)
- Maison Ikkoku
- Kare Kano (ehh coulda been better but it was a cute ending)

The best endings for movies
-Evangelion (like I mentioned on the 'downers' thread, i HATED the series' ending BUT loooooooved the movie endings! Especially End of Eva! So dark and disturbing! Anno you are da man!! oh... you are too Jon lol)

- All Ghibli movies especially 'Laputa' and 'Princess Mononoke'
