Mmm... I loved the Pretear ending when I watched it, but now I have more ambivalent feelings toward it. If she just... hadn't opened her eyes, it would have been a much more powerful story.

Let's see... Kimagure Orange Road had an awesome ending, though it took much slogging to get to it. Crest of the Stars has one of the *best* endings ever. Fullmetal Alchemist just made me... really, really happy. Oh! And the Arjuna ending fit in with the series perfectly.

...and I still like the endings to both Wolf's Rain and Escaflowne. :-P

EDIT: How could I forget SMJ? That ending was *awesome*. ^_^ Also, Angelic Layer's ending made me incredibly happy. ^^

I like the Kanon ending, because it made me happy and sad at the same time. I still feel sad about a few characters, but joy resides for what happened to others.

I like the Angelic Layer ending, because it couldn't have ended in a nicer way. :)

I like the CCS ending. :) So sweet... :) Eeee~

How could I forget Haibane Renmei? I love that show to bits! And it's so cute.

I'm with Pudge, I can barely think of any anime endings that I liked. Trigun and Cardcaptor Sakura would have to do it for me.

And Evangelion??? I can't pick a more WTF ending than that.

Oooooooooh, yeah. Kanon had an awesome ending. It was really, really cool, just tied up every single story thread and hit you with surprise after surprise. ^^

I liked the ending to NGE. Then I watched the movie 10 more times and now I REALLY love it.

Well for best endings Id have go to with these few

Fushigi yuugi (Tv and OVA): I love the TV ending better then the ova because its touching that he came all the way back for her. The OVA was great as well, because it lets you know how far tamahome and miaka got..geez having a baby at the end makes a great ending. Letting you know that they made it through all the tough times.

Sailor moon Stars: Thats one sad ending having all the scouts killed off, and leaving sailor moon to fight for herself..(well she had the starlights there and they were watching) But in the end everything turns out for the best..Just the worst thing ever happens. Darien comes back and Seiya leaves *kicks and screams not wanting seiya to leave, and notes thats why its so sad* LOL

Ah my goddess: I love this ending because its so sweet, He fights to give her the thing he promised he would. An for that he gets hurt. (but once again ok at the very end)

I could keep going on, but I think ive wrote enough..LOL

I liked Kanon's ending, but I would have preferred it more if they had gone more towards an episode twelve type ending instead of the episode thriteen that they went with.

But I'm somewhat strange because I kind of enjoy the "bittersweet endings" such as the Macross TV series, Now and Then, Here and There and Mahoromatic endings - types of endings that leave you kind of happy and sad at the same time if you know what I mean. More like real-life instead of a more artifical all-happy ending. :^^:

If you liked the Kanon ending, the Air TV series will probably have a great one too since it was written by the same people.

I'd have to go with :

Fushigi Yuugi (TV only, just too sweet ^_^)

Cardcaptor Sakura (so cute, althought a few more frames at the end of the 2nd movie would have been nice :) )

I can't think of any other than these two ^_^. Oh Angelic Layer too, great ending !

After thinking it over, both caferfully and well, I've concluded that Outlaw Star had the best ending that I felt had some sort of completion with an opening for possibly more in the series (which won't happen).
Trigun comes in at a close second.

Actually, that's what I was referring to earlier about the Pretear ending-- I would have liked it better without the happy twist at the end. I should have expected it, though... there is a reason the title is "The New Snow White", after all. ^^;

I dunno, though. Kanon was different to me. They just... so many things happened at the end, and the story kept reversing itself, and I really enjoyed all the twists. The happy end was just another one, the final one, and one that left you with a good feeling. To me, it fit well as an ending. In Pretear, they build you up to this tragic ending and then spring the unrealistic happy on you right at the last moment, and it just doesn't feel right.
