The Evangelion series ending was so bad that my friend hid the vhs tape so no one else could be affected by it, and to this day we have never found the tape 6 years later!

Well I agree with alot of people that Akira was a stupid movie, I just hated it.

But to go with the worst ending of an anime series *waits to be killed by all the fans*

Id have to say Weiss kreuz/Knight Hunters: They lead you up to this huge fight. An then as they are fighting they all fall into the water and I just think thats really retarded. But then again..the anime really didnt end there. I havent watched the rest to know. But I just think they could have came up with a better ending for the one I saw.

I have to admit, I shouted out loud and was angry for days at the end of the first Weiss series. I was so glad to see that it didn't end though when Gluhen came out! But, yeah, I LOVE Aya, and I hated seeing that his sister wakes up just in time for what seemed like his DEATH scene! I remember I was sooooo angry/upset the first time I watched it. Part of my thoughts at that point: did Ran die and his spirit inhabit Aya so that she could live? What can I say, I'm warped.

But I also hated the end of Kare Kano! I knew going into it that they finished the DVD before the manga, but I had hoped for a coherent ending! It started out so nice...

And I,Me,My Strawberry Egg!... I hated the end on that too, but then, I'm warped... and sometimes I'm a sucker for "happily ever after" (yeah, cross dresser old enough to be her father, runs away with grade schooler, = happily ever after) (I DID say I'm warped!)

Akira: yeah, the animation didn't do enough for me either. It seemed like a gross-out anime to me. The storyline was ok, I could see the psychological discussions that my husband and I got into after watching it, but ... ick.

Haven't seen the end of Wolf's Rain yet, but thanks to reading the thread here, I know how it ends. Which is kind of a good thing. I hate being surprised by Shakespearian endings.

mmm...that's all I can think of right now... (a collective sigh is heard)

I really liked the end of eva!

but I didn't like Akira too much. It was weird until the end which was just like.. what? ok................

I felt cowboy bebop ended sorta.. suddenly.... but I guess it was ok.

Shakespearean? Shakespeare didn't write anything like it. ^^; His endings are all pat and definite and final, whereas WR... isn't.

:rollin That was great! :rollin

I'd have to go with Weiss Kreuz Gluhen. It certainly didn't end the way I wanted it to. And we have an entire thread explaining reasons why.

Worst anime ever including the ending would be Wolf's Rain. What a freaking waste of time. Why did I bother? I know! Because I wanted to know what the fuss was about. My bad!

I've been wishy washy on Akira for the same reason. It really doesn't appeal to me but I want to see it just because it's a "must see" anime. We'll see.

The worst type of ending to me is one that just stops, and leaves you expecting another episode, or season, to explain what just happened. Candidate for Goddess, EL Hazard (TV) Witch Hunter Robin, Wolfs Rain all seemed to be leading up to something, but it never happened. People just carry on with their lives, gain wings somehow (become a memory or something), disappear or create the modern world :P . I am still debating if I like the endings to Berserk and Texnolyze, or absolutely hate them :?

Evangelions ending is fun, when you are showing it to friends who have not heard of it. Nothing like telling them that the studio went bankrupt while making the last two episodes. Look they can't afford cels anymore, and they just use sketches, and by the end, all they can afford is doodles. The usually believe it too :dgrin

I agree. So much build up of the storyline, but then, it doesn't get resolved.
One of those things that to understand the entire story, you have to read
the manga, the novels, play the games and watch the anime.

I liked the second series a lot better and the .hack manga was the best of
any of the .hack items that I've encountered so far. Need to play the last
volume of the game when I get through with my current game.

Various ones that pop into my mind:

Samurai Deeper Kyo. I really liked the series and while I understand that
they were going for an open-ended "choose your favorite" ending, but it
didn't work with me. They'd invested too much time building up to the fight
to have it cut off before it starts.

Trigun. Again, they had built up the entire conflict of "I don't want to kill him
but if I don't, he'll kill others and I must make a choice of which to accept".
Then, they cop by Vash deciding all of a sudden "I won't kill him and I don't
think he'll kill again anyways." which again, undermines the tension building
up to that point.

Mahoromatic. "Let's suddenly change the entire tone of the show with a
tacked on ending that feels like it's from another series."

Kimi ga Nozomu: Of all the possible choices of women, he picks the
worst one possible.

It is a shame people say Berserk (although I completely understand why) because the end of the anime is really the beginning as far as the Berserk storyline is concerned. Great manga!
Regarding bad endings in general, the Japanese seem to have this nasty habit of constructing great characters, sagas, small side stories and then completely flub their endings whether its because they try to wrap everything up way too quickly or just write a terrible ending in general.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

Saber Marionette J to X. I LOVED SMJ and SMJA and was very dissapointed to see that's how they decided to end it. Why couldn't they just keep their ages instead of reverting to kids...

Also, Rurouni Kenshin the tv series... I was like so that's what you call an ending?

Fruits Basket a little disappointed but I could see why they ended it like that with the manga still going.

Slayers Try... not closure for me. What happens with all the other Mazoku Lords and the world? What about the Sword of Light? Most of Slayers depends on it and all of a sudden it's gone with evil Mazoku Lords still around? I know about the Blasting Sword from the Novels but that one doesn't last either. There's the point that the SoL helps to keep Lina and Gourry together too (as an excuse and insurance).

DBZ... it should've ended with Buu gone the end. I know that a lot of people like Goten so I'll go along with it that far but personally I would've liked it to stop after Cell is defeated. *dodges kameha thrown at her*

My cat Seeley is a Sailor Moon fan, too!

I didn't anticipate on having a black female cat and a white male cat or I would have named them Luna and Artemis... oh well.
