So I just watched Nazca and...

Post by Rekka Alexiel »

...hmmmm. I don't know what I think. The first couple eps were a tad slow, but for the most part, I really liked the series, no matter how farfetched it may be to have a bunch of Japanese suddenly turn out to be the reincarnations of some Inca warriors... Then again, their present nationality really has nothing to do with the idea of reincarnation, so... lol

I caught myself gasping at some parts during the show, mostly the last two episodes. There were a few plot twists that I totally wasn't expecting. I really liked Ataharupa (sp?), even though he was only shown in maybe two eps... and what's-his-name...the last "tamashii-bito"...he was VERY cool looking, even though he was a baddie.

And on the "violence" idea on this show... lol it's pretty much non-existent. I mean, are some people afraid to show blood? I don't need to see buckets full of red stuff sloshed everywhere possible, but... it doesn't hurt to see a little here and there. ^^;; I mean, it's only logical to see a little blood when a character's being beaten to death, right? The last couple eps really annoyed me on this regard. The scene where Yawaru is totally owning Bilka... it SEEMS like he stabs his sword through Bilka's hand... but because you don't see it (it's cleverly off-screen) and there are NO MARKS on Bilka moments after, I wonder what the hell happened. lol Maybe it's the violent fiend in me that felt a little jaded by these cheap escapes of avoiding necessary violence in a story.

But I know my thoughts on this series are rather scattered; the animation in the series generally sucked. lol There were quite a few "pretty shots" throughout, but... they're rare and far between. I'm happy to say that I will soon own one of the most pretty Kyoji cels that I have seen!! lol But, it would be nice to spy one of those nekkid Kyoji cels from eps 10....!!! Ahahahahaha

So, has anyone else on the boards seen this series? What were your thoughts on it? You know, there are a lot of series that have a moral or leave you with a certain idea or feeling... but I can't really figure out what this one was supposed to leave in my mind. That we all get a second chance if we want it and fight for it? That I might reincarnate in the future to have a better life than what I have now?! LOL I dunno!!! What do you think?

I thought it was a neat little series. But I like Nazca mostly for its production art.

I had difficulty getting past the premise. Missing suspension of disbelief meant I couldn't get into the plot and although I can't recall what the animation was like, you didn't like it so that may be why it didnt stand out. So ignoring the premise, plot, and art, there's uh, the voice actors... ^^;;

Actually, I saw just the first DVD ages ago, so maybe it gets better since my recollection is a little vague.

lol Yeah, all the bad stuff I can say about the series is a bit of extreme... I did come off liking the series when it finished. I really liked the emotional scenes, the crying scenes, like between Kyoji & Yuko towards the beginning of the series & the last eps... Some things I think were animated well... it just seemed like the good animation was pretty rare... and, heehee I'll always like the voice acting.
