That Cowboy Bebop thing is really great! And I'm SERIOUSLY bummed that everyone seems to hate the end of Evangelion so badly because that was high on my list of things to watch. :( (As a mech lover, those wild Eva thingies look awesome.) But maybe if I go into it knowing the ending will bug me I won't dislike it so badly. I've pretty much made up my mind that I will never like the ending of ANY anime anyway, since I haven't liked the end of any of the shows I've seen in almost a year!! Maybe I'm just shallow, but I watch tv for entertainment, not deep philosophical or escatalogical thinking. (I do get plenty of that in other areas of life.) I want a decent "all the ends tied up neatly" ending. Happily ever after would also be nice, but not necessary. :) Big O, Wolf's Rain, Trigun... loved all those shows, but disliked the endings.

Nope, that's what you call a "OMG Watsuki hasn't caught up with us yet so let's throw together some sub-par excuse for a fanfic and call it part of the series!!" :D

(It still had its moments, but it sure didn't live up to the rest.)

you think theyll ever go back and reanimate the jin chu arc and the happy ending of watsuki in tv series style?? i think its a high probability (even though its probably wont happen in the near future).

Agreed. As my best friend and natural enemy said when I wished for the hundredth time for a Zelgadis Volks doll:

"That ship has sailed."

These are all subjective to ones personal tastes of course, but here we go...

Psychic Force: OK, I just hated this series all around. From what I understand you'd have to have kept up with the video games it's based on to even understand what's going on so I didn't have that advantage. The thing just basically ended with no resolution whatsoever. Chances are this was because it didn't prove popular enough to continute making, I'm sure.

Cowboy Bebop: Actually, this was probably a very good ending...
It just made me so sad that I haven't quite forgiven it yet. ;) I actually cried. Not over Julia's death mind you, just Spike's. In my opinion Julia was hardly developed enough as a character for me to even care about her.
Master of Mosquiton OVA: My favorite series of all time, and yet its ending frustrated me because it gave no defenite answer on what happened to one of the main characters. Since the TV series is an 'alternate universe' of sorts, I doubt my answer can be found there.

Lupin the Third Mystery of Mamo movie: Ok, this ending was just roll your eyes cheesy sci-fi movie bad. I loved this movie very much, especially its art style...
but come on. Mamo was a giant BRAIN? Gimmie a break!
Otaku no Video: All I can say about this ending is... buh? What the hell? I guess Gainax has a history of good anime with so-so endings. :P

Also, if I can throw the Petshop of Horrors manga in here. Just another one that made me sad... I guess it wasn't a sad ending per se.
I just wish that D and Leon could've stayed friends... but I guess D's life goal kind of clashes with that whole thing. *sniff*

worst ending

Post by Zag »

.. we just finished Saikano
... the whole world is destroyed.. except the main character guy, who's girlfriend's soul lives inside him. The end shows him.. well.. delusional. He's wandering around in limbo, talking to / moving around like everything he remembers is still there. They talk about living. .. to take a quote from the US remake of Ringu, "How long do you think somone could survive down there?" ...

Well... I don't know if it's the worst, but I was a bit disappointed in the ending of the Gantz anime. I really doubt the manga will end that way... but it was just a very anti-climatic sort of ending that made you feel like.... what the hell!? I'm sure I'll get over it, though. lol

Movie Ending

Post by Blackmegabyte »

I don't know too much about dissapointing tv show endings---- but I can tell you of a movie ending that was highly unsatisfactory---

Proco Rosso------ what was with that ending? It was like the producers ran outta money by the end and couldnt afford what should have happened....

I wanted to see Porco have ONE more kickass battle scene where he takes out the whole fleet and flies back to his woman.... but nooooooo. we get a silly narration and are supposed to "tie things together" by ourselves
otherwise its a pretty good movie leading up to a sudden conclusion.
Keep on keepin' on Dilandau.

My vote is for the whole Lain and Technolyze animes - oh wait thats not the end I hated just the whole thing. I feel like those anime along with Akira are just like indipendant films. (Granted there are a lot of good independant films) People feel like because they were stylized and confusing that they were good, and that by choosing to like them they are somehow a part of an elite group of connisseurs who can appreciate them for the art they are. CRAP! :tongue
People all are like "you just don't get it" and I'm all like "yeah, I got it, it just sucked" :moon

Oh yeah so what were we talking about? Oh yes anime endings.
Wolfs Rain for me.
I would highly reccomend watching through ep. 26 - that ending is bittersweet and poetic. The four after it just sucked. The funny thing about Wolf's Rains is that I didn't really care for any of the characters, what I liked was how they interacted...
The end with the failed attempt at paradise and them all fleeing the building trying to find each other was poetic, they found a sort of paradise in the journy - they found family. The next four episodes just proceded to suck a lot and to me felt like they were trying way to hard to be all deep.
