How did you get into Yugioh?

Post by KT »

For me, I got into it when the dub was close to showing the ending of Duelist Kingdom. I remember while flipping through channels after I came home from school I saw the first episode of Kaiba Vs. Yuugi on top of Pegasus' castle.

I wanted to watch it, but my older brother was there (back then both of us thought Yugioh was just another Pokemon --we judged things before looking into them alot back then) but I just watched it anyway (and my brother did too)

The next day, right when we came home from school we turned on the TV and watched Yugioh. I made up to my family "I only watch Yugioh because Yuugi's hair looks cool."

After a week I loved the show and I didn't care if anyone knew I loved it. And that is my story

I got a subscription to Shonen Jump and got into the Manga of Yu Gi Oh
Most Bishies are eyecandy therefore they must all be attractive for the females. One Problem though Can we have MORE LEGAL eyecandy??

Easy enough. My son. He drug me down, kicking and screaming. :P Seriously, I REALLY didn't want to like it because I'd already witnessed it's complete commercialization (wich is something that will usually immediately turn me off of something). . . But then. . . I saw Seto, hanging from a helicopter and. . . Ohhhh. Was hooked.

Back when I first got into the series I was totally obbsessed with Seto. Whenever I was in a situation I would think "What would Seto do?" And then I would do what I thought he would do :P Oh and everyday I wore this necklace with Seto on it. Gosh, I really was obsessed 8O 8O

Well, to this day I am not like that anymore. I've calmed down :P

Teehee. I had to giggle. I'm not wondering what Seto would do, but. . . I carry around my lil' Seto pin. *ahem*

Don't worry, I'm laughing over what I did back then too :D

I have Seto pins too...I got them both as gifts. I don't put them on my jacket (I put pins on my jacket...Yes, I am weird) since I don't want people at my school to know I like Yugioh (It is not worth the harassment of "You like Yugioh????" etc.)

I would watch an episode here or there, but couldn't get into it because I could never watch sequential episodes. I also only seemed to catch the same exact episodes over and over again... so I just stopped bothering.

Then... I got an DVR. I could watch all of the episodes in order and became completely addicted to the show. :nuts

Like some of you, I too, was flipping through the channels, found an advert for Yu-gi-oh, jumped at the site that it was anime, and immediately stalked the timetable for it. :) I liked it ever since. :)

For me, I was trying to avoid it at all costs because I knew if I liked it, my wallet would suffer. Oh well, when I watched Yami and Seto duel Lumis and Umbra, I wanted to find out who would win, so I watched. In the episode where Yami tried to basically kill Seto (at Pegasus' castle- the melting rotting BEWDs, etc) and little Yugi cried, that part hooked my sister and she loved Yugi ever since.

First I liked Marik, then Bakura and now *gasp!* Yami Yugi/Little Yugi has taken over (ever since the Doom Org where Yami got super evil and Little Yugi was so sad, they got separated, and Yami showed much deep character and so did Little Yugi). If they made a new story all about Thief Bakura's life, it may help him regain his 'Favorite Bishie' throne from Yugi. Still wub Bakura, but starting to wub Yugi more.

Now onto the horrors of GX. Yuki's show would be alright if it had Yugi in it and less Pokemon-style stuff going on. I don't like the Duel Monsters that much as it is and now the GX series is glorifying them as bad as Pokemon glorifies the pocket monsters >_<

I do like Pokemon, but not a lot. I do wub the Plusal and Minusal (?) and Pikachu and even that funny Munchlax thing, the latest movie with alien Pokemon was a nice movie actually. Torie (sp?) seems to be a rip-off of Ryou Bakura though, his voice actor is the same as Mokuba I think.

I want to see GX anyway to see how messed up it is (fake Millennium Items?? Ugh!) and Yugi is in the first episode, that is a must see. Yugi must be 26 or older, since it's 10 years later. Little Yugi is all grown up and sounds just like Atemu, pwee! That's pretty cool I think ^.^

Bakura's JPN voice actor does some singing in the GX opening (Ryou's voice, not Yami version), I want to hear that too.

What we need is YGO R, Little Yugi's adventures animated (although, Yami's still there somehow- oh well!). That would be something! They should ditch GX (well they can keep it, but as long as they make R) and start R. *hopes like crazy*

I saw promos for it weeks before the show started in the US and thought, "Hey, this looks pretty." Then I watched it and really liked the artwork. It's got cards, bishies, Egyptian stuff and of course it's anime. How could I not like it?! 8)
