So looking at this poll, why are the Nuriko and Hotohori cels so expensive? Tasuki is relatively cheap. Is it because

Tasuki actually survives in the end while Nuriko and Hotohori die making them appear in fewer episodes?

That is why cels of the Gods are so dang expensive that is if you are even lucky enough to see one!

Tasuki cels are still a bit pricy, at least by my standards but then I don't really collect the character. If you manage to find one with Koji in it, you can retire for life. (I saw a douga go for about $100 a couple years ago; at it wasn't even a very good shot, if I remember.)

the fact that he still loved Miaki even though he was married and that with his dying breatch he still thought of nothing but her, killed me and I'm a guy. One of the saddest things I had to watch.

but my wife loves Nuriko and Tamahome.

She loved the fact that she got to see them in modern close. I told her that it would be difficult to find any cels of them like that for sale.

in Episode 33, someone told me that she bought it for $600. Is that cheap or expensive? It is when he is in the car, smiling with both eyes open, dark shirt and bright colored tie (I think thats the right description).

That's the one my wife wants. You could say that it is her dream cel of Nuriko.

Instead, I'll just admire my episode 33 Nuriko cel that I paid significantly less for.

I was lucky to get a cel of Nuriko from that sequence in episode 33. I bought it off of ebay as a BIN in December 2001. It was for $600. I thought I was somewhat crazy at the time to spend so much. I have felt all along I overpaid for it, but was still happy with it because I liked the image. Who knew it would be considered a good deal now?

See, it's things like this that remind me why I'm not to trying to collect one cel of each character anymore. $150 is currently my limit now, I broke it only for my Sailor Uranus henshin cel and I can't think of any cel I would break it for again. My biggest concern about pricy cels is that if I ever want to re-sell them, finding someone to actually pay the $800 it's worth is hard.

Right now my only cel from Ep. 33 is Ashitare, but hey, that's not bad. (Even though I've since lost my interest in having it.) I was thinking at one point that I'd try to collect one of each of the Seiryu, which is why I bought it in the first place, but the Boshi twins strongly deter me from that goal as well. Even one of them from the OVA is worth well over $100. TV shots are almost impossible. Again - rarity. I guess I just got into collecting FY a little late.

It's great that you set limits on your spending and are keeping to them. I think of my cels more like how much I want them, how happy they'll make me, etc. Luckily in the years I've been collecting my salary keeps rising too so I can afford the more expensive stuff. Although, I really like it when I don't have to spend much.

Yeah, you don't want to know the price tags on my Amiboshi's and Suboshi. But it was well worth it to me.

Well, the limit thing is mostly for my own benefit. I'm going to be graduating college, finding my own place, and hopefully starting a family within the next few years. So that's going to take out of my pocket quite a bit.

But in all honestly, overspending on cels, even nice ones, has tended to stress me out rather than make me happy I got them. There are a few cels I wish I would've bid a bit higher on, and this feeling usually resulted in a fan cel commission shortly afterwards. ^_^

I do have to correct myself, though. There is one other thing I'd go over $150 for and that's an original Watase sketch. I don't care what character, I just want one. ^_^ But from what I've heard, the price on them is way to high.

And my concern about getting them from another collector is how do I verify the authenticity?
