Okay, not sure if I am going to get all this right

but I'll give it a shot.

For question one: There's the current timeline where the series actually takes place & there's the future/timeline that trunks comes from.

Eh...think I might be missing one still...hmm...

Question two: Trunks arrives to tell of andriods and give Goku the medicine. Trunks returns to the future. 2 trips.

Cell takes a ride from the future. 1 trip.

Trunks returns from the future to help fight the androids, then goes
back. 2 more trips.

At the very end of the cell saga we see trunks in his time about to return but then cell appears and tries to steal his time capsule again. He fights and defeats cell. I don't think they actually show trunks leaving again, so if assume that he does, that would make two more trips.

So were looking at 5, maybe 7 if we count the trips at the end we don't actually see him make, or do we...gah..I can't remember

Ok, it's been long enough, so let's move on. Here's the answer to my question:

1. How many alternate timelines/futures exist in the DBZ universe (as discussed in the Cell Saga)?

- There are four separate timelines! The first is obviously the one in which the main DB storyline occurs. The second is the one in which Trunks comes from the future and everyone is already dead. In this second timeline Cell is destroyed by Trunks, so Cell actually comes from a third future in which the Androids are destroyed and Trunks is the only one left. The fourth one is a bit more speculative, but it stems from a problem in the third future--the Androids were destroyed using the emergency stop circuit. How did Trunks know how to do this? The answer is that another Trunks from a fourth timeline came to the third with the Androids blueprints so that they could be destroyed.

2. How many trips total are taken using a time capsule in DBZ? Round trips are counted as two trips.

- Using the above information, you can deduce that there are eight trips total taken in the time capsule. The first two are when Trunks initially returns to warn Goku. The third and fourth are when Trunks comes back to help the others fight the Androids. The fifth and sixth are when he leaves. The seventh trip is the one Cell takes from the third future to the main timeline. And the eighth is the one Trunks takes from the fourth timeline to the third to destroy the Androids with the plans.

The answers for these questions were taken from the Official Dragon Ball Dictionary, which I have in french (I'm sure it's online somewhere also). Since the fourth timeline is a bit more questionable, I would have accepted the answer of three timelines and seven trips (you kind of said it, Govo, but I thought I'd let some other people try for the real answer). Since no one figured that one out, here's a followup question:

3. Why is Majin Buu never resurrected in the second and third timelines?

I have that one in Japanese.

As for the third question, I'm not sure, but I'd say that it's because Trunks is the only Z-Warrior left, and Babidi wouldn't have been able to gather enough power.

The 25th World Tournament would have never taken place.

But his hat isn't blue... my other thought was when Goku gets his snowsuit in DB, but I don't think he's wearing jeans

How many times did Goku actually win a tournament ?

(Since I'm not always around, you'll have to clarify your answers so the other DB(Z) fans can also verify the answer).

I don't remember the number of times Goku won a tournament in DB.....i think he only won one in DB. But he didn't win any in dbz.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. He lost to Master Roshi and Tien, but finally won against Piccolo at the end of DB. After that, the only person who "won" tournaments in DBZ was Mr. Satan
