Champloo Artwork

Post by Krafty »

Hi Transmet, I know that Champloo has a lot of fans now and I'm a latecomer to this series so it's not a ideal series for me to start collecting. Availability and costs are a major deterant. BUT I do like it to the extent that I'd like some gengas. I put a sly bid in for some just today but didn't win- they were copies afterall. I'll bid on the 400+ sheets currently on YJ but again, I'll probably be way off.

I've keenly read your posts regarding the copied artwork, it's hard to know what for real nowadays especially when the Japanese retailers/auction sellers aren't forthcoming with info. I'd be happy with some copies just to marvel at the linework and flow of animators' ideas but I don't want a bidding war with anyone.

Woah, I didn't even see those... it doesn't come up in my regular search. Too bad they're copies though. (I'd like to get a nice genga of Jin myself.)

Good luck, Krafty. :)

ETA: There's another auction with 310 sheets, but those are copies too. :l

I hear that ep. 22 is kinda..."wacky". I don't know - I haven't seen it because the fine people over at AF haven't put up yet. I not complaining, those guys do an excellent job - a lot of love goes into getting the translation as accurate as possible. I'm wondering if ep. 22 is proving difficult to get it's idea across (or if the episode just sucks and it's more trouble than it's worth. :P)

It's all good - I definitely can't wait to see new episodes, but with only 3 episodes left (5 for me), I can wait. :^^:

I think they're pretty good. :^^:

Is Samurai Champloo really only going to be 26 episodes long? I don't see how they're going to wrap everything up with so few episodes left to go... :hurt:

And, yes, episode 22 is... weird. o_O

Notice on today's AF site: "Dun you all worry, 22 be coming soon enough, the episode is on crack thus we had to find a good stash to dope up the Champloo team."

:rollin Now I can't wait.

Well... Anime Forever recently posted episode 26 of S.C. and all I gotta say is, "damn, it's over?"
They did such an excellent job on the subs and with all the little extras, including a lot of historical background which was invaluable to understanding some of the nuances in the stories that would have otherwise escaped my sorry, undereducated butt. :P
What a kick-ass series done with so much love and attention to detail - I just can't recommend it enough. For those interested in seeing it for the first time - Adult Swim Saturday, May 14 at 11:30.

You won't be disappointed.

Hell. Now y'all got me really wishin' I weren't waiting for the damned dvd releases. *grrrrrrr* Maybe I'll get-over my "no anime on the monitor" thing. *sees 5-day download time* Nope. I'll wait. :P Not very patiently though!
