Have to aree with Gabe, there are some cels I particularly love that I wouldn't want to part with for just 200% profit- it took me too much time and effort to find/buy them in the first place. It's also difficult to value something like this when it's worth a lot to you personally- mostly sentimental reasons. I'm always concerned that another collector isn't as mad as I am and willing to pay so much. If this is the case I feel it's better off with me ^__^In_Gabriel_We_Trust wrote:It this point I would say "no". A 400% profit margin seems more understandable.
(hmm, apparently it isn't quite that hard to price a cel. willing to sel it is a different thing of course.)

Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

I voted "no" simply because right now I'm situated reasonably enough that there's no need to sell them. And because it's a pisser trying to figure out which my absolute favorite is... a while back it was my pan Zel (and probably always will be) but...
However, I voted no reluctantly because I'd sell them all for half of what I paid if there was a need to do something for my kiddos. I really would.
(Thank god for my greedy little seff that there's no need!)

I actually had a beta member, Zayon, offer me a great deal for my favorite Shampoo cel in my collection.
After receiving the payment for it and the trip to the p.o. to ship it to him... I just couldnt do it.
In the end, I refunded him his money, gave him a free cel as my way of saying "im sorry for chickening out" and learned my lesson.
There are just some things that are far too sentimental in value that later become pricelss.
even if it is 'just a cel'

It's always hard to say goodbye to a cel that you have loved and cherished, but if something very very important happened that I could not avoid in any way, and had to sell multiple items (and not just cels) for then I guess I'd have to do it. But I hope that day doesn't come. I just wouldn't be ready for it.
Different things to different people are difficult to let go of. Really, I'd rather not let go of anything, being the stingy girl I am, lol, but as I mentioned, things change, and these ever-changing days cannot be stopped and so... Although I put no in the poll... Sometimes I'd have to, even if it wasn't double the amount, or even ten times the amount.
That's just the way it is I guess. But I'd always want my cels to go to a good owner who would respect the cel for what it is.

Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

As I would have gladly paid 10x-20x the price for my two favorite cels, that would be a resounding 'No' for this poll. I was actually offered 40x the price of one of the cels, but turned that down. (And before anyone thinks we have a couple of Bill Gates running around the cel community, the original price was only $15, so...)

Bah. Trying to fool everyone with that act! I know you were this > < closeBaakay wrote: However, I voted no reluctantly because I'd sell them all for half of what I paid if there was a need to do something for my kiddos. I really would.
to putting up the children on eBay to pay for more cels until you found out
that you wouldn't get away with it.
And on a more serious note...
I don't think anyone is arguing that they wouldn't part with the cels for
even less than they paid, much less more, if they needed the money. I
took the original question to mean "would you do it now?" which hopefully
for all means that they don't need to.

For my favorites, no. I would sell other things first. Then I would take a paper route before resorting to selling my precious!!!

I actually got Nate a Father's Day card last year that says: "The modest check made a wonderful Father's Day gift. Mom had finally managed to sell the kids."kymaera wrote:Bah. I actually have been thinking about what would I thin out to pay for some of the more expensive cels I've purchased recently. Like... should I sell the things I only have one of (like Vash?) Should I thin out my Zel collection?
And you know what I do every time I think about it?

Considering my first dream cel is actually one of the less expensive pieces in my collection... no!
My second dream cel... hmm... only if I could buy a cel from the same sequence for the same price and keep the profit.

Lol, I feel like this would be me too. Nearly every time I have sold a cel in the past, I've suddenly felt the need to look at it a lot and almost convince myself that I shouldn't be selling it. And I've never even sold a dream cel before...Shampoo wrote:I actually had a beta member, Zayon, offer me a great deal for my favorite Shampoo cel in my collection.

Well my absolutely 2 FAVORITE LoN cels will not be sold for ANY price and more likely will be taken with me to the grave. If there was something like a MAJOR family emergancy than I might consider selling the other LoN cels instead but so far so good... knock on wood.
If anything and I desperately needed money I would more likely sell all the cels from my SM, FB, Slayers Others besides Rowdey and Sleepy Lina, and a real shocker if I REALLY needed to all the Inu Yasha cels I have. As long as the main focus of my gallery with Slayers cels evolving around the LoN remains. The most of them are framed and everything anyways so...

My cat Temperance I call her Tempe for short.

My cat Seeley is a Sailor Moon fan, too!
I didn't anticipate on having a black female cat and a white male cat or I would have named them Luna and Artemis... oh well.
