I thought that there were only 20-something episodes. I watched the whole thing before it came to the U.S. I had a lazy day where I scarfed down a whole box of wheat thins and a whole pack of sandwich meat. I though it ended where:
The battleship was taken over by a rogue crewmember and the last surviving bad guy. Sousuke kicked his ass good! I think the villain got blown up with his own bomb in his own mecha suit. Hmmm come to think about it, they never really wrapped up the ordeal with the Black Knowledge and the origin of the Whispers. Well, I guess 2nd and 3rd cover that ehhh? Does anyone know where to download the episodes? PM me if you do. I dunno if its against the rules to publicly post a link to episodes. Or if not you can just email me.

The second season is called Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! and it doesn't start a new storyline or anything, but it covers the comedy episodes the manga covered but not the original anime.
The third season I think is off of another manga story, but I haven't seen anything to confirm that, so don't quote me.
