I have to chime in and say I love the series, but am really enjoying the manga too.

Like everyone has said there is just more to it. After DT mentioned the hat, I had to go bad and reread the manga since they come out so slow I completely forgot it being mentioned.

I would love to see more, hopefully it won't take forever.

I'm glad you like it! It's such a wonderful anime. (But the sketches are so pricey... X| )
But it's such a sweet anime and one of my favourites :^^:

Maybe it's the frightening ammount I just paid for my FMA hanken, but I really don't think Fruits Baskets is all that pricey. They really seem to be in-line with the other CG shows I'm collecting. *shrugs*

To me, they seem incredibly pricey. Hm... that's probably because I only just started collecting a few months ago. Newbie jitters, I suppose. ^^;; Well, if it's just me, then I guess... 'hakiri jitters' is more appropriate. :sweatdrop

Yeah, the FB sketches are priced perfectly with other cg shows. At least they are not crazy insane prices like FMA. The only real problem with FB is either they are really hard to find or you buy one from a collector who says you can't display it.

Okay, I'm exhausted!

So I've learned not to "read ahead" of myself. I tend to do that a lot. :D And I did it with Fruits Basket. Just couldn't stand not knowing what was going to happen!

In my reading ahead, I'd read a review where some little, nit-wit had complained (I can imagine her wining little voice), "I don't know about the last two episodes. They didn't follow the manga and it was different from the rest." Don't really read manga anyway, so will just forget that bit and go with the (whining voice) "it was different. . ."

D'oh! 'Cause everyone who worked-on Fruits Basket was a genius! *ahem* Let me back-up here. I am referring to episodes 25 and 26 which, in my humble opinion, are two examples of nearly perfect. . . anything! But will go with "anime."

Just that they had the sense to tone-down the soundtrack, do away with the silly eyecatches, and just let the story (and that BRILLIANT artwork) be.

Those moments between Tohru and Shigure in the woods after she had run-off. . . What were there, 10 words of dialogue between the both of them? Just that the director had the insight to see that, even in a medium where constant movement is usually a requisite, that moment should just. . . be. Oh, brilliant!

I could go on and on for days, tell you what moments stood-out in-particular. I could do that, if I could pick any! The whole thing was just. . . brilliant? :P

I will say that this is the first time I've gotten to the end of an anime and not felt letdown in one way or the other. No, the story doesn't have a definitive "end." But I love the idea that all of these characters go-on, and, unlike IY for example, there was enough closure regarding certain things that. . . it's just enough. Ya know? :)

ANYHOO. . .

I do believe I can say that Fruits Basket has jumped to the very top of my "favorites list."
