Ack!!!! I just typed this big ol' post, submit it, then. . . .

*sighs*

Here I go again. A brief summary of what I just wrote:

I'm watching the Saiyuki dub today, because my contacts are glued to my eyeballs and I would be hard-pressed to read subs right now. And yes, I know about glasses, but they give me a headache. ANYHOO. . . .

I'm watching the ep where Kougaiji's sister has gone-off after Sanzo's group, all of them have paired-off and it's the part right after Kougaiji's landed his first punch on Goku. It is then that I here what is, I think, the absolute lamest line I've ever heard in. . . anything! Goku recovers from the punch, the dust clear and he says, (sub: "What are you doing? That hurt!) "So you can still land a punch, but can you still taste lunch?"

WTF kind of line is that?! I swear to you that I wanted to gag! I know Saiyuki is supposed to be somewhat humorous, but where o' where is the humor in that line? All I heard was cheese.

I've realized it might not be the voices that annoy me so much with the dubs (though I don't think I will EVER learn to accept Gojyo's dub voice), but the absolute worst writing I think I've heard in a very, very long time. ACK!

i dont dislike dubs because of the voice actors. there are actually some really good english voice actors for anime, though i do favor the japanese seiyuu more.

no what annoys me about dubs is how they edit so many scenes out or re-edit a bunch of the dialogue. a perfect example would be the card captor dub*cringe*so horrible.

to tex-chan and shellie, that's why i dont do any laundry while watching anime. means you cant watch the subs.

oh my, I so agree!

When I watch Anime I watch Anime. I take the time to watch it.
No folding laundry or whatnot, you miss way to much!

Or you just don't do laundry at all. Fairly easy for men as underwear comes in packs of three for 99cents. :
Of course I got the strange looks when I had to start wearing the ex's evening dresses to work because there was nothing left in the closet.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

Yep, I agree. If you have the time, this is the way to go. And, the same thing I do when I have the time. Unfortunately, since the kiddo started toddling around, time is at a premium. If I waited until I could do nothing but watch anime, I would never get to watch, so I just try and do the best I can --- even if it is only watching "evil" dubs.

I figure "evil" anime is better than no anime. /gg

I make the time really..

I work til five, get home at six. Then I have to do grocery shopping, make dinner and feed and take care of the animals.
So only in the evenings I have the time to clean the house and do that laundry stuff.

But I still find the time to watch Anime!

Um ... sorry ... /sry

I didn't mean to offend or imply that others are not as "busy" as me or whatever ...

All I was saying was that, for me, doing it this way works out best. I'm sure I could make better use of my time and have more dedicated anime-watching time. But, so far, this has just been the best way for me.

Anyhow ... sorry if I offended anyone. It was definitely not my intent.
