Fullmetal Alchemist

Post by yoshito »

Ok, I watched the second DVD last night... up to Episode 8... and now have to admit, I'm a fan of it.

I downloaded a fansub a while ago when the Anime Internet was ablaze with the story. Watched the first episode and thought, "eh, another cutsey anime with lots of toy appeal" went on my way and thought nothing of it. It was interesting, but not something that made me want to learn more of Ed and Al. Figured, it was pretty much cut and dry, two boys mess up, now need to fix their errors. Blah blah blah, some cute girls, boy dancing around as a suit of armor. Comedy abound...

So I bought the first DVD to show my brother the "greatest series" around. Watched it, and pretty much summed up what I thought of the series. Gave it to my brother and he loved it, so bought the second DVD and happened to watch it last night. Damn... they actually do more than just "comedy and action"... they have some emotions and characters have a real personality. Talking about humanity as percieved in the eyes of a young boy in the society.

>.> So now I'm stuck with wondering if they ever finish their quest for finding humanity... bah... and now looking at buying sketches... >.< Damn, I hate this "hobby".

Teehee. Glad to see you've come around. FMA is definately one of my top three (Fruits Basket and IY being the other two. Get Backers is workin' it's way in there.) Yep, FMA definately does not have a "shallow" storyline. Love it. I do. I do. :)

Does that come with buckles and and fits nice and snug? If so, have a closet of them. =P

Hmm... have you guys seen the entire series? If so how long is it (as in how long must I agonize waiting to see if it ends)?

I so forgot to put this in my original post, which is why I posted this in the first place. >.< What I get for not drinking my morning mt. dew.

It's 51 episodes, all available for dl and worth every minute. But as for whether or not it 'ends'... you'll have to join the rest of us who are waiting impatiently for the movie to be subbed.

Yes, FMA is an awesome series. I hadn't heard about a movie though! When does the movie take place in the timeline?!?

You can watch a little trailer here:

http://www.shochiku.co.jp/hagaren/top.html

Unfortunately, it gives absolutely nothing away. :P The translation that I got for a trailer that's no longer available, though, is:
Opening words:

Alchemy:
In order to gain something, another of the same value must be paid / sacrificed
to change the very material of things by
'the law of equivalent exchange'.

Fullmetal Alchemist : The movie

Narration:

"There lies the battlefield of magic and alchemy.
2 brothers torn from each other..."

Alphonse Heiderich:

"I believed... that (big) brother is alive somewhere out there..."

Narration:

"What was the pain of their seperation in exchange for?"

Edward Elric:

"No matter where (I) go, (I) can't get out of here..."

Narration:

"And... can the alchemy of the 2 save the world?
Fullmetal Alchemist the movie; Conqueror of Shambala"

Ending words:

On their / the two's promised day, the world will move...
Maybe you can guess its place in the timeline from that. :)

Oooh, Moop, that trailer is great! (even though I didn't understand a word! ;)) Thanks for the link. I particularly like the image of Ed (or is it Al? X| ) on the home page... very very lovely!

That would be Ed, shellie. An 18-year-old ED. . . a LEGAL Ed. *ahem* Don't know why that's relevent. Erm. . . Maybe it was the intense guilt I felt for getting excited in all the WRONG ways during one ep where you got to see Ed taken a shower? lol Oh, I really need to get a life! Or laid. lol Either will do at this point. :P

I thought this was fansubbed somewhere... maybe I'm loosing it... nevermind, had to have it before I loose it.

Thanks for the info... 51 episodes... wow. I'll wait for the DVDs so I can get it in fullscreen. But tempting to download and watch them all. >.<

I think kisara is scaring me now... I shall just back away and leave you two alone. =P

Er... never had such feelings for Ed, but I do love FMA. We watched it at school and all of the students were literally entralled with it- I looked around the room halfway through one of the episodes and everyone was just mesmerized. Usually we have a few people talking or whatnot, but all eyes were glued to the screen. Kinda' cool, I thought. :D

Yay, FMA for everyone!! :P

Sorry, I'm a guy... don't understand.

Gah, I almost sound like Cloud here. >.<

Ok, it was my bad, it wasn't this movie's trailer that was fansubbed. Something else... Gomen.
