Now, you know I'm not setting out to pick a fight with you, one of my favorite people, but...

WHY? This is simple curiosity. (and I'm not on the Rubberslug forum, so I'm not going to go join for this...) I'm at a loss to understand what difference it should make to anyone else, if the collector has no problem with it.

Having said that, you're certainly entitled to be annoyed :-) (stranger things have annoyed me.) But... I am perplexed. :puzzled

lol That's just it! That's all I said. It annoys me. Don't really care if people do it. Their money, their life. Just one of those things with me, ya know? *shrugs*

Fair enough :P

Apparently I'm being used as a testimonial for the "why you suck" service (see previous page) so this probably explains why I was perplexed in the first place :D

If you weren't stupid, you'd hire full-sized ninja's. Chibi-ninjas would never get past my army of anime figures :D

Pfft, ORDINARY chibi ninjas maybe! But I'm borrowing mine from evilminion! Mere figurines, even of Kenshin (oh, wait, all yours have boobs :P ), can stand no chance against the might that is the Chibi Hoard!

Would you buy a cel from a series you have not seen?

(1. Yes, if I like it, I'd buy it.)

I might buy from something I haven't seen, but I'm very unlikely to do it.

I only try to collect scenes, shows or characters that I have a personal connection to. But my favorite scenes, shows and characters are all interrelated with each other. I checked my twenty seven all-time favorite anime character list and all but one of them come from anime that are on my favorite anime list.

(2. No, even if I liked it, I'd leave it for someone else.)

I've thought about leaving cels for others many times before, but only with shows that I've seen. It's out of my hands if I use Celga and someone places their bid after mine. There's no way for me to have known they were going to bid when they bid so late.
Zag wrote:Recently there was a bit of a dust up in certain blogs (mine included) on Rubberslug regarding people who buy / collect cels from series they have not seen or know nothing about.
There seemed to be an overwelming feeling that those people were BAD CEL COLLECTORS. Evil! Taking the cels out of circulation, thereby depriving TRUE FANS of the series of the chance to buy them.
I, personally disagree, but I'm curious, how do you feel?
To answer your question, I don't have any problem with people buying stuff from shows they haven't seen.

It's strange though. Sometimes I get happy to find someone uploading a cel from a show I'm collecting. That doesn't happen much maybe only a few times a year. Then I come to find out by contacting them that they haven't watched the show yet. I must say that I do get a little disappointed by it. Not because I'm disappointed in them personally, but because my search for someone that has seen my show has been thrashed yet again. :(

Tabichan...now I know how you felt suffering by yourself all those years. I never knew how tough you had it. :bawl :D

That's not true.
1) It's only like 95%, not all.
2) Even ninja's cannot stand up against the power of boobs!
(See any episode of 2x2=Shinobuden for proof)

Hmmmmm.....that's interesting! I never actually thought about the physics of leaving a cel for someone else, but yes, leaving it implies that you know someone else would want it more than you. I think that places a pretty high burden on a bidder! And what if you wanted it, but thought of others who collected that series (while you were a non-watching show-in-question philistine) and didn't bid on it only to have no one buy it?

I agree it's weird to find someone you think you have something in common with only to find out you don't though. (I e-mailed a gallery owner about her Sesshies only to find she'd only seen three or four episodes of Inuyasha! ) Of course, when browsing galleries it's tough to figure out if the person hasn't seen the series or if they're just too lazy to put captions on their cels! :D

Oh yeah.....and Kymaera? You suck :run :rollin

I've done it.

I bought a cel from a show I've never seen.
It was an A1 end from Eden's Bowy. In my defence...it cost 300 yen! :D

However, I would not easily spend a lot of money on a cel from a show I've never seen, so I'd say it would depend on the price.

I went for the first choice.
I still have to buy my first real 'unknown" cel but I am certain that if it is purdy enough and more importantly affordable, I would go for it.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?
