Bad situations
What would you do in the situation?
Your wishlist cel came up on auction and one of your best friends is bidding on it too. What would you do?
If it was a big wishlist for me, i would go for it. But first i would talk with my pal so no anger would come up on us and then work it out. But if it was a cel that i wanted but not too eager to get, i would let my pal get it.

I would try and work something out with my friend. I care more about my friend's feelings and our relationship than a piece of plastic with paint on it... hurt feelings would sour any win for me. Of course, I say that, but I've been lucky in that I've never had to compete with a friend for a wishlist. So... who knows... this song and dance of mine might change. >_<;;
Regardless though.. I would still try and work something out.

I'm guessing if you have a close friend that collects cels they probably already know your favorites/wishlist items, and you've probably already had some conversation on the subject. When something comes up, this should already be worked out, even if it's a free-for-all.
BTW, cels are one of a kind, you can always make more friends

For me it would depend on how badly I wanted a cel and how good a friend they were!
If it was someone I talked to regularly and had known for a while, I would try to work something out, especially if one of us wanted it worse than the other.
There are some cels I wouldn't back down on for even my mother though!

Well, if a good friend of mine saw a wishlist cel of mine... I really doubt they'd bid on it for there to be a problem. They'd know I'd try fist and nail to win a wishlist cel.... *beware* lol But, if they were interested in the cel too, I'd send them a note, asking kindly if they'd let me have it.... Begging doesn't hurt either. heehee

Hmmm...I actually own a cel like that. It had been on Asylum's website for at least 3 years before I finally bought it. My good friend had also been eyeing it the entire time, but didn't want to spend the money on it.
So, when Curt had one of his sales, I jumped all over it and amazingly got the cel. So while I felt bad for my friend, she hadn't been willing to front the necessary cash. Of course, if I ever sell it, she's first in line...
If 3+ years isn't enough time to give your friend a chance to buy it, then I don't know what is!

If it's a friend of mine I would definitely work something out. I really don't appreciate it when people I know and done favors for goes for the cel I'm bidding on and outbids me. It's happened three times now, and needless to say I don't do favors for them anymore. Friends are friends for a reason, it's like backstabbing if a friend is bidding on a cel and you outbid them. I would personally be happy if my friend won the cel because then I know that if my friend would ever decide to sell it, then that person would give me first dibs.
I totally agree with vampyreshoujo, a friendship is more valuable than a piece of acetate. When push comes to shove, I choose friendship.
I have one cel friend like that right now, and others well I thought they were friends but turned out to be "if I win I win." This is not what this hobby is supposed to be about, but unfortunately most of the time it is.
But that's my $0.02 cents though...to me a true friend would always work something out with you...but that's only what a true friend would do.
*big hugs to my cel collecting buddy*

Other than beta members, I don't know anyone else who collects so I consider the members as the ppl you are referring to.
You don't realize how often this happens with Inuyasha cels. There are several beta members who pm each other about cels someone really wants.
Only a very few times is there several of us bidding on the same one because it is a wishlist for any Inuyasha fan. Usually we can "share"...or we get outbid by someone else.

Most Bishies are eyecandy therefore they must all be attractive for the females. One Problem though Can we have MORE LEGAL eyecandy??

I happen to agree with SME. I mean come on a friendship is alot thicker then a plastic peice of paper. Even if its an online friendship. A cel cant make you feel better when you have alot of troubles in your life. I do know that id work something out with my friend. If she won and needed to sell the item I know id get first dibs on it. Collecting cels is a great thing..but meeting people and making friends is more important

Re: Bad situations
That's pretty much what I'd do. Although the chance that someone I know would want to bid a lot on something that I have as a wishlist item is pretty remote. Unless if it's ks_tom we're talking here. But I always try to avoid bidding on something that I know he's going to bid on or on something that he's the high bidder on.hyelakingsfan wrote: If it was a big wishlist for me, i would go for it. Maybe it's good karma because I don't remember him ever directly outbidding me on anything. If he outbids me I would have lost to someone else anyway. I don't remember ever outbidding him when he was the high bidder either. So sometimes these things do work out by themselves.

What is this "friend" thing that you speak of?
Seriously though, the only person that collects cels that I have any idea of
what they're bidding on is Baakay and we usually work something out so that
we don't conflict much. Like, for example, there were four Gokudo-kun cels
up on eBay that we both wanted. We chatted and decided that each of us
prefer two different ones and split up our bids that way on them. Though,
the whole thing would've been more effective if she'd lived up to her end
and actually got the cels.
