I am totally with Uende as well..... If I don't know the series, and even if I know these scenes are pretty popular, I would not spend my cash for some cels which I do not collect..... b/c there is no reason at all for me. Also if I have a chance to buy someone's wish cels, I would prefer telling ot posting thread in beta to let them know that these are available. I really do not want to take someone's wish cels from the other...... (I found "buy it now" Kenshin Tsuiokuhen cel in YJ before..... It was super cheap and I could buy it, even though I was tempting to buy it, but I am collecting Seisouhen cels so instead of buying it for me, I just posted a thread in beta).

I am not a dealer and I believe this is a friend based community. So I would let my friend have their wish cels instead of buying them to make profits for me.

I regret not getting that Gatotsu-Zero-Shiki Saitoh Hajime with matching background years ago..... cel was nice, price was right . Didnt get it cuz I didnt collect the series.

I would go for whichever is the better cel. Even if it were a cel from Tenshi ni Narumon.[/spoiler]

I can see where Uende is coming from, however, when you
say wishlist, do you mean that you have gone through other's
wislists on their sites and you know exactly what they are
looking for? Or, from what you stated about Sesshoumaru,
are you talking a wishlist character in general??

I have seen people post that they would like to get a really
nice Sesshoumaru cel, but their idea of a really nice cel and
my idea may be totally different. If you had the chance to
pick up what you thought was a nice Sesshoumaru cel, just
because you thought that someone you saw posted they wanted
one, you are taking the chance it is not what they think is nice.

I have 7 Sesshoumaru cels in my gallery, 4 of which were
wishlist cels for me. They range in price from $500 to $2300.
I have 3 other wishlist cels of Sesshoumaru. One of him with
red eyes, one in full dog youkai form, and the OP cel of him
with Rin and Jayken. All 3 of those cels, in my estimation,
would be $1000 plus - maybe higher.

So, let me re-phrase the question to you. If you had a chance
to pick up a nice cel from your favorite series, or spend upwards
of a $1000 to buy one of the cels that are from my wishlist, which
would you choose?? Many people's wishlist cels can be pretty
expensive. Hope you have a cash cow.

For those who are asking how you could know whether a cel is a wishlist or
how much it would be worth so that you even know if it's a deal, it's easy.
First, you could have a friend that collects cels from that series so that you
pick up knowledge just by listening to their stories of buying stuff/looking at
their gallery. For example, I have pretty much zero interest in Kenshin, but
thanks to Baakay, I know who the major characters are and how
important/rare some scenes are. Secondly, comparison shopping. If I see
a cel from Dragonball Z (another series that I have zero interest in collecting
cels from) that seems to have some importance due to the scene or quality
of the shot, I can check dealer's sites and see if there's a similar one for a
much higher price.

But, that being said, I have no interest in buying cels from series that I don't
collect. The only time that I would do that is if I was buying it for a present.
I buy to collect what I like, not to resale or to have things that other people
like. There's even been a few times when I've seen cels from characters
that I didn't care for, but from series that I do collect and which I recognized that
many people might drool over, but I didn't get them simply because I didn't
want to turn my collection into a competition over the best cels. I'm quite
happy with its current state of a mish-mash of cels from shows and
characters that I enjoyed.

For myself I would go with the series I know.

The only exception would be if the "wishlist" cel was one that a friend cherished and for some reason they were unable to have seen the auction.

I would pick the wishlist cel and sell it and get a better cel of my favorite series.

Of course that is your decision, however I suspect you would quickly find yourself very unpopular in the cel community snatching up other people's wishlist cels just to make a quick turn-around profit. Of course it's well within your right to do so.

I wouldn't buy any cel I didn't love simply because I knew other people would want it. The only exception would be if I recognized it as a friend's wishlist cel and bought it assuming they would want it, but might not be online at the time. If in the end they didn't want it, I'd probably be stuck with it so I might sell it, but that's all just theoretical at this point.

I have to agree...I don't even look at cels for other series, unless someone here is pointing one out or a gallery update and that's just to see what they are talking about. It's hard enough to keep up with the series I have seen, I don't think I would consider buying a cel just because others like it especially for a series I don't know.

I would go with the series that I know and enjoy, because since I don't have too much money most of the time, I would rather spend it on a nice cel from my favourite series than a random cel that I know is a wishlist for others from another series. If it was a big wishlist, I would also know that it would be pretty expensive, so I'd probably still stick with my favourite series and if the series I like has no good cels available at the moment, and I see that big wishlist cel everybody's talking about, (it'd still be expensive) I'd pass it because not only does loads of people want it and like it (so I'd be taking somebody else's wishlist cel without it being a cel I particularly like), but I would also rather save for what I think is my wishlist cel. ^.^

O man i stated it wrong in the thread. I was saying if a person just gave you a cel, if a person offered you a cel which one would you pick. Not buying a cel. If it was buying ofcourse i would go with my favorite series' cel. Im not trying to say it as an auction type. If it was like that then ofcourse i would let other people buy it and i wouldnt even pay much attention to it.

Sometimes when you think to yourself you think that your writing the thing that your thinking of but then you dont really write it the way you meant to write it. (wow thats confusing) LOL

I would still pick my fav series.... But I might pick the other wish cel if the cel is my friend's wish cel (I will give it to my friend as a present, of course )

PS..... so many time I want to buy cels for my friends but they tend to be soooooooooooooooooooooo expensive
