Which do you prefer?

Guess I'm in the minority here. No background! I'm all for matching backgrounds. While I do have some cels that have unmatching backgrounds in my gallery, I'd rather have all that "white" space. The cels with non-matching backgrounds just seem fake to me. But hey, it's all about preference.

I go with whatever the cel came with. I'm too lazy to either track down a
matching bg or a non-matching one that compliments the cel.

I always add a BG to my cels.
If it came without one, I'll add one, but I always try to match the original as much as possible.

I really do not like the white, in my opinion, the cel was not meant to be shown that way to begin with.
I feel the same way about showing the cel uncropped, I always crop the scans of my cels.

I don't like to add Backgrounds to my cels that are unmatching. So I rather leave them blank behind. I have cels that came with unmatching backgrounds and scanned them with it, but the only reason I do that is because the BG actually came with the cel. I even got cels that came with an unmatching BG and I didn't bother scanning in the BG. It all depends on. I used to not crop my cel images, but then I thought in a Gallery it looks better if I crop the cel images a little bit. It's all about personal preferences. ^__^

I used an unmatching original BG for each of my cel except one of my Kenshin cels (I have one cel with the original matching BG for my Kenshin cel with the original matching book.....). I really wish I could have all original matching BGs but I think it is not possible and also without BG, I feel it is missing something....

Also I like looking for a BG for my cel as well..... It is kind of fun

Ditto. I'm in the (growing) minority here too. I have a few unmatching backgrounds in my gallery because the cel came with it and I was too lazy to remove it yet, but when I do my rescans I will remove them.

I might someday commission an artist to reproduce the matching background if I really felt a cel would be enhanced by it, but I would never just add a random background.

Yes I too would like to see the proof.

I won't show my cels without a background. I've seen some where people can carry it off - white on white and it really highlights the cel, but I can't do it. Sometimes I get it wrong, but I will go back over and change a background when I find a more suitable one.

I'm in the category with the lazy people. If my cel was sold to me with a background, I'll generally use it. For my cels without backgrounds, unless I happen to see the matching background in someone else's gallery, I won't go out and hunt down a complimentary but unmatching one - I don't have the time or money.

Out of the 9 cels in my gallery with backgrounds: 3 original unmatching, 2 original matching, 1 original unknown (possibly matching?), 2 digitally added from screencaps, and one fancel that has a background.

I vote for no BG at all if not matching. I just like to keep things "in the fam" so to speak.

No background for me. But, as it's been stated before, if it already has a non-matching background that came with, I'll leave it as such. I'm not going to try and track down a copy of the original.

I choose the background too.

I also feel cels with a background seem to generate more interest when up for auction or sale.

I voted no background if not matching... although I never do verify that the background is matching. >.< Have one cel with a non-matching background because I wanted to frame it (Kenshin cel) and did one earlier with just a white background which I thought would look boring above my computer. Now I don't really care for the background I chose so makes me less inclined to get a non-matching background.

Plus I like cels without backgrounds anyways.

ReiTheJelly made me curious to survey my background cels.

I don't have time to check cels not posted in my Tripod cel gallery, but out of the background cels I have posted I have:

56 cels with matching backgrounds
4 - copy background cels
2 - unmatching background cels
2 - computer generated blurred backgrounds/?copy backgrounds
1 - not sure if the background is matching or not
