Anime Music Videos you like

Post by Keropi »

What are everyone's favorite anime music videos?

If you could...please explain why you liked them. If you don't want to do that though, feel free to just post the anime and the song name (or group that did it).

I've hardly seen any anime music videos from the past three or four years so my favorites are mostly real old ones.

Not in order of preference:

1. Omoide Poro Poro - Forever Young - C-ko's:

I liked C-ko's videos because they match up the video clips with the lyrics of the song so well. This one is no exception.

2. Maison Ikkoku - Always on My Mind - Cko's:

Another C-ko's AMV. I like Maison Ikkoku and they chose great clips considering that they only used clips from the first ?ten or so episodes of the show.

3. Rurouni Kenshin - House is a Rockin' - Maboroshi:

This is a comedic AMV and the comedic clips he chose were really funny.

4. Dragonball ?summary movie #? - Hero of the Day by Metallica - ?Maboroshi
This may or may not be a revised version of the one I seen many years ago:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=64839

I'm not into Dragonball, but I thought this video was great. Big plus was the Metallica song, but the clips went with the song very well. The energy of the song and in the video clips blended well.

5. Ranma 1/2 - Love Kills by Queen - ?C-ko's

I loved the lyrics of "Love Kills" blended with scenes of Ranma getting whacked around by the girls. :D

6. Various - They Did It For the Nookie by Limp Bizkit - Kusoyaro Prod:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... php?v=2822

I find this video to be pretty funny. This video becomes ecchi because of the lyrics and the Golden Boy, Aika, Demon Hunter Youko, Slayers, Bakuretsu Hunters and Evangelion clips he used. The clips went well with the lyrics. :D

7. Various - Total Eclipse of the Heart - C-ko's:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=15869

As usual the lyrics of this C-ko's AMV go along well with the lyrics. When the lyrics say "Turn Around", the characters turn around. :^^:

8. KOR - Only Time Will Tell - unknown:

I saw this on an old tape of mine. It's an old song, but I like the song and the clips they chose from KOR.

9. Lain - Sleep Now - Maboroshi:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... o.php?v=94

Spooky, cool Lain video. 8O

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMVs I liked to a lesser extent than the ones above:

1. Kanon - All I Want - Maria of Chocofansubs:
http://www.edkeyes.org/choco/
(Unfortunately it's mixed into a 900Mb AMV grab bag :? )

Unfortunately it runs a bit out of steam near the end because the earlier clips were better than the ones near the very end. I still like it though and play it every now and then.

2. To Heart - Ame Agari (?second Angelic Layer closing song) - Jeff Lawson:
http://www.jefflawson.net/anime/amv.html

A short video, but it sort of summarizes the first TV series story into a nutshell.

3. Lupin III Die Nostradamus! - theme from Mission Impossible - Maboroshi:

A fun video with Lupin and company doing their thing. Unfortunately the scene of the building collapsing now takes on sinister overtones after 9/11.

4. Elf Kakyuusei OVA - Mejalin Kembali - by ?viator2k:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... php?v=2693

When I seen this several years ago it was the only purely Elf Kakyuusei music video around. I think it probably still is considering how unpopular the Elf Kakyuusei anime is. I rather like the Malaysian song he used, but you might not want to watch it until you've seen all of the anime or you'll end up seeing ending spoilers. Unfortunately...like he said himself...the story feels rather rushed near the end of the video.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other AMVs I've liked for one reason or another:

1. (Koibito) Ai Yori Aoshi - Maybe I'm Amazed - Tsuguyami:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=49865
(I'm not sure why the AMV.org description mentions a Final Fantasy X song. Maybe this AMV is a later version of the one I have)

Nice clips from Ai Yori Aoshi and I've always liked the McCartney song.

2. His and Her Circumstances - Your Song - Jeff Lawson:
http://www.jefflawson.net/anime/amv.html

Clips from my favorite Kare Kano episode (the one about Yukino's parents) make this a bittersweet AMV. :l

3. Witch Hunter Robin - Dead Boy's Poem - Monkeysee and Jevex:

I really like the song. It works well with Witch Hunter Robin. But the clips they used could have been improved. And unfortunately they had to use clips that had subtitles showing. :(
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone have any Witch Hunter Robin, AIR, DNAngel anime music videos they can recommend?

Everytime I hear the Kelly Clarkson song "Breakaway" I think of AIR. 8O

Heh, you both have very different tastes than I do in Anime or AMVs or both--I only recognize a few of those titles. I have a ton of AMVs that I keep on my hard drive to watch, but these are some of my favorites (that I still have links to :D):

1. Evangelion Opus (the absolute BEST!!!)
2. Akira Under My Skin
3. Whisper of the Beast (a MUST download for Naruto fans)
4. Trigun - Eden
5. Mitternacht (Vampires... )
6. Seizureline (FLCL)
7. Another Half (Ghost in the Shell... awesome vid)

And BTW, links would help on further posts...

I make them..when I have the time- which I haven't had much of, lately. Here's my profile if anyone is interested.....

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... rofile.php

Mostly Yasha videos, though. And Kenshin.

My "faves" list really needs to be updated though. But you can see it on the profile, as well.

Maiko - that is a link to whomever is logged in. Can we get your AMV handle, so we can search for you? Or perhaps titles of AMVs you've made?

Hi

I make Tenchi AMVs for my website, I also have them all on AMV.org as well, here are the ones that I have made

Tenchi's Summer Sunshine
Jump
I Want You (Tenchi Style)
Kiss The Rain

you can find them either at my website or on AMV. org, but if you go to my website you can view about a 10 second preview of the video before you download it, also you can download the videos in high quality and also in low quality

Loved that one. My top favorite AMV of all time.
Ian Roberts (Absolute Destiny): I Wish I Was a Lesbian
Arg! Don't even mention that AMV around me! *kicks it hard* Sorry, I have a personal vendetta again that AMV. After slaving away for months on "Karaoke Gone Wrong," I entered it into the AnimeNext AMV contest very excited to see it premiere at an anime con. I get slaugtered by this AMV which was not only in completely bad taste in my opinion but furthermore was actually invited into the contest by the judges! Come on, how is that fair? Even though I credit it for good editing, I was really mad after that. :redhot

My personal favorite is "Fishheads" -- a Slayers video by Kay Lowell (Whoozat?) :P Because I made it when I was learning how to do Premiere.

Many of my favorites have already been mentioned:

Chibi things that Kill
This Video Sucks
Failed Experiments in Video Editing

Other ultra-favorites -- and I'm sorry I don't have the time to dredge up the links or editors:

Crawling (a Kenshin AMV that I could watch in an endless loop)
Bug Thumping (El Hazard)
Disney in D (Naruto)
Everybody's Free (to watch anime) -- various
Fanservice (and Fanservice 2) <-- a classic!!
Jinnai & the Bugrom, Live! (El Hazard) "Hubba hubba Zoot zoot..."
Right Now Someone is Watching this Video <-- a MUST SEE
Stop the Rock (Sumomo from Chobits as our exercise instructor)

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this one, which pretty much sets the standard people should go for in editing:

Tainted Donuts (Cowboy Bebop and Trigun)

Another one I could watch for hours on end is Silent Lucidity. A Card Captor Sakura video that absolutely captures why this is not just a silly kids' show.

Waaah, Odorikuruu isn't there anymore? I'm sad.

Keropi, can you point me to the House is A Rockin' Kenshin video? I have never seen that one.

Ah, "Tainted Dounuts." Or for that matter, no one has mentioned...
Right Now Someone Is Watching This Video

Some AMV's are so classic they're just kind of accepted of the best without mentioning (Kinda like Miyazaki to anime)

On a purely technical level, "Odorikuruu" is possibly the best AMV ever made. Also? It's insidiously addictive.

True Story? "Right Now" once made me cry. It's just that good.
