If you could finance a new anime series...
If you could finance a new anime series...
Suppose that you somehow came into more money than you could ever use
and decided to finance a new anime series. Which show would you choose
and why?
To make it more interesting, divide it up into categories:
1) A sequel or spin-off of an existing series.
2) A remake of an existing series.
3) An adaptation (from manga, video games, or other)
My answers:
1) For a sequel, I think that there are several series that need continuations:
Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Gatekeepers, etc. But my top two are Lament of the
Lambs and Video Girl Ai. Both have OVA's that cover only a little part of
the manga. I'd like to see continuations of both.
2) For remakes, I'd go with either Dirty Pair or Alien Nine. I think Dirty Pair
would benefit a lot with newer, smooth animation and while I like the story
behind Alien Nine, I hated the character designs.
3) For adaptations, converting the game Disgaea to an anime is a hands
down winner.

If you could finance a new anime series
Well If I could make a new series I would like to see an anime version of Battle Royale that follows the book not the manga or movie.
As a continuation I would like to see book #3 of the Crest/Banner of the stars made.
As a remake my vote would be for mobile Police PatLabor which is great but the animation is dated. An ungrade like the WXIII movie would be nice while keeping the story lines.
And I would agree with NSP (scary thought
) Remote is currently my favorite manga.

Hmm...this is kind of difficult for me since I don't normally think along these lines. I also don't have much to do with manga or games. More things will pop into my mind the more people mention stuff.
1) A sequel or spin-off of an existing series.
I agree. A continuation of Video Girl Ai would be great since I loved the manga since I enjoyed the fan translations eight years ago (not the Viz translations
).
2) A remake of an existing series.
A Macross TV remake using todays technology would be pretty awesome. Unfortunately it wouldn't be possible to do this in real life because the rights would be tied up by "Satan".
3) An adaptation (from manga, video games, or other)
The adaption I would like to see the most is the Neko Neko "Giniro" game. That game had one of the best stories I've ever read. I wouldn't be able to do justice to the game by creating an anime from it, but at least I can try to reflect a bit of glory from it.
More realistically I wouldn't mind seeing an adaption of "Pretty Face". Sometimes it stretched believability, but on the otherhand Midori no Hibi stretched it all to hell and that was made into an anime.
I would be eager to see an adaption of the "Kisetsu wo Dakishimete" game. Mitsuishi Kotono did one of the characters voices. That game had a lot of drama in it. A lot of tears and heartache in the rain. A lot of nice visuals. In other words...stuff I like.

Honestly, I have a few stories in my mind I would LOVE to bring to *life.*
But for works in existence, I would love,
'Battle Angel Alita' to be made into a series instead of the crappy movie that was released. It no way played homage to the entire manga story.
''Blade of the Immortal' would be wonderful as an anime I think. I love feudal Japan stories with kick-ass swordsmen!
I think some side stories from 'Naruto' would be cool as well.
Ah heck, there's so many floating in my brain that I'll find a way to finance all that I desire.

I fully agree on that one.Elfstalker wrote:'Battle Angel Alita' to be made into a series instead of the crappy movie that was released. It no way played homage to the entire manga story.
1) sequel : Battle Angel Alita - Especially the third Rollerball-ish story arc.
2) I can't immediately think of a remake.
3) A Dirty Pair adaptation, based on the Adam Warren's stories and visual ideas. With his Teen Titans-version "Rock, paper, scissors" as a bonus.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

I'd love to see more of Azumanga Daioh, like what professions everybody ended at.
I think they should perhaps have a reunion episode when they're older and see what jobs each of them have. I'm very curious about what jobs Osaka and Tomo got in the end. But other than that, I think the series ended well. ^.^ And the comedy in it was great.
The only thing it really explained was that Sakaki wanted to be a veterinarian and that Chiyo wanted to study abroad. I guess Kagura's going to be a P.E Teacher. And when Chiyo suggested Osaka be a teacher, Yukari couldn't stand it because she said 'You think any fool can be a teacher??!' XD |

I don't know whether it counts as a sequel, a continuation, a remake, or all of the above. But I really would love to see the final arc of Kenshin animated, as opposed to the occasionally-OK, occasionally drastically bad made-up episodes that finally killed it off.
Continuation -- hands down, Inuyasha.
And two others that I'm not certain which category to put into (Probably sequel): Tactics and Spiral.
New adaptation. Now I'm setting myself up to be put back in the Stupid Person Hole because I don't follow the news very closely -- but the manga Crescent Moon is a really enjoyable and would make a truly fun anime.

I guess this'll be pretty obvious coming from me... but a 'pre-quel' type thing for Outlaw Star - Basically telling Hilda's story, showing her dealings with the pirates... how she lost her hand/arm, eye... how she actually stole the OLS and Melfina.
And my Video Game adapation, would really be a remake.... sorta. But the Legend of Zelda... based more around the N64 games... mmmm Link.
would want to see an animated, Dynasty Warriors maybe too... could have different 'series' based on the different kingdoms and their stories. I'd love to see the Wei story, see how they did Xiahou Dun, Lu Bu, Sun Ce, Wei Yan. So yeah, basically.... based on the game's story (for exaple) the wei kingdom, it'd be animated - going into more detail with the stories in the cut scenes... not to mention there would be killer fight scenes. ^_^ (for all i know this might be around???)

JWR, Banner of the Stars is being made into an anime! ^_^ Just thought you'd like to know.
1) Hubb, from Wolf's Rain, needs his own show. A dark noir detective show. It's be hot.
2) Tokyo Babylon. ^^; Dear lord, I'd love to see this as a gorgeous full-length anime.
3) Kindom Hearts! Eeee! It would be the best show EVER!

Let's see here....
A sequel or spin off I'd like to see done would be Final Fantasy Unlimited. They really cut the series off, and they never did explain half of what was going on. Although I have heard rumors of a manga in the works, but it's probably just that...a rumor.
Video game adaption, gee...there are so many: I'll go with my new game Stella Deus I'd love to see that in animated form. But I'd also like to see something with Chrono Trigger done.
For remakes: Samurai Troopers, although it was wonderful the first time....
