Animanga:Time for Yann to Pass on the Reigns?

Post by Ms. Poe »

so, What does everyone think? This used to be "THE PLACE" for everyone. Now it's just a dumping ground for sellers, and flamers.

There's so much Animanga, and Cels.org offers, and USED to offer.

Yann has since moved on to his other job, and doesn't seem to really care about cels.org, the forum, or the people constantly e-mailing him anymore about the problems.

Should Yann pass on the reigns to somebody else who's dedicated to keeping this community alive?

Thoughts, opinions?

BEFORE YOU TAKE THE QUIZ! Think of all aspects cels.org and animanga offers, and HAS offered in the past. Would Beta dedicate themselves to re-creating everything they both already have, and don't have?

Animanga was good when it was the only thing around... but it was still slow (at least here in the US) and buggy at times. Beta is the future! All we need here is an updated version of Keep-Track :)

Still, it was nice of Yann to set up and run Animanga. It was the only cel-related forum I knew of for a good while.

This is my take on it.

Some people want to flame, be crappy and bring others down. They are not happy with their life and want to spread the emotion. I say let the angry people have their spot on the web so we can have our paradise.

Kind of the yin and the yang of the internet.

I wasent around for animangas hay day but as far as Ican tell Beta is the future, however I still use cels.org almost daily for the keep track feature and its extensivelist of cel dealers/collectors.....if thes were incorporated into beta I think that would be awsome.....*hint**hint* :)

Even though I was around for Animanga's better days... I still agree with you on this one! :D

Well said NSP. I personally don't want those people here - can you imagine? Beta has already grown so much since I've joined and altough we've had a few growing pains here and there (verbal jabs, spats, all-out disagreements, etc.), things are pretty civil here.
Another thing is I'd rather this place not get too huge so as to get too saturated, that's what My Space is for. This is a haven for cel collectors who share a passion for the hobby (or look for comfort & understanding during moments of addiction :o).

As far as setting up another cels.org, why not look into taking over something that's already pretty well established? If Yann's not into it anymore, maybe he's willing to sell the site...or something. :shrug

It seems that like the majority I think that Beta is the future. I dont at all see what Animanga has or had to offer that differs to what Beta now offers... the only difference if the Keep-Track utility, which is quite outdated and does not have a few main dealers anyway. So to be honest if Beta had a Keep-Track, then I wouldnt even go near the Animanga site.

But Shampoo, and others, make a good point, I think Animanga should stay just so that we dont get everybody who frequetns there would not come over to Beta.. it would be a real shame is this comunity was spoilt in the sema manner as Animanga.

Like several have already said, the only reason that I ever visit cels.org
lately is for the keep track list. I visited it for a bit, but got discouraged due
to the people that it attracted and the total lack of any sort of politeness at
times. Finally, it got to the point where I noticed that it was starting to bring
out some bad behavior in me in respond to what was I was seeing. I decided
that enough was enough and moved on.

I think that at this point, the pissiness there has gone on long enough that it
would be hard to break people from it. I know that it would take a lot for me
to go back there. So, I pretty much don't care whether it lives or dies at this
point.

hmmm,
I would say leave cels.org where it is think (I came in prime/downward slide of cels org.) it's better to leave the skeleton of what remains kinda like the internet guide to anime cels. I gives people examples of what worked what didn't. I would like an update feature here or at least a list of active online dealers that could be added to or subtracted from. (since a lot of them have gone the way of trad. cels) instead of hunting several sites to get a complete compilation and finding out a place may have a site still but no longer deal or auction only. (would be willing to work on a compile on this even have thoughts on new categories for these other than country) I think this is the main chating palce for cel collectors, then rubberslug (since they added chat), and finally irc.

Yeah, I see where you are coming from. But, it is his site. I personally do not venture there as much anymore because I grow tired of some of the flames.

I don't think he should "pass it on" to anyone else. Actually, I don't care either way. I usually go to Beta or Ebay forums for all my gossiping needs. :D

I used to visit animanga all the time and when I started this hobby that is the first place I visited...... (and I met vash there.....). But I do not even care to post threads there now b/c it seems that some ppl there just want to mess up others..... (for example, I posted some threads and some ppl replied to just make fun of me). That hole thing is mess there unfortunately.....

But like other said already I check cels.org always b/c keep track. So I wish beta has the same function so that I do not have to visit there at all :D :D

Well, I think we all agree so nothing to add here really :). But I do think a track feature would be a great asset to Beta, and I'm willing to help if it ever becomes a real project :D.

i think that the only reason passing on the reigns would be a good idea is so that someone could update the keep-track list as it is pretty out of date... I rarely use it anymore as I've found a newer and more accurate one.. I also wouldn't want most of the people from the animanga board to come here because those people are angry and everyone here is pretty nice :flower :ghug: :friends: . I've heard that board referred to before as animANGER (I just noticed shampoo said this)!! And I agree. They always have some bicker fest or flame war over there. I only go there for for sale updates and the such.
*shutters at thought of the infamous 'ore-s' joining beta*
lol ahh some of those people over there are sooo screwed up!
Does anyone remember the rumor thing about Nick of AC? I don't want people like that here.
