Hey guys,
My aunt called me and told me about a job that i could get and it pays about $13-$15/hr (which is good for my age) and i have to take care of special ed people. I dont know if i should take it or not. I want to in a way but i dont in a way. I want to because i want to feel what it is like to interact and i want to see them have fun. I have never experienced anything like that, as in i've never talked to any special ed people. But i always want to see people happy (especially special ed people) so i might take the job and have fun with them. What do you guys think, if you guys put yourselfs in my position? You guys dont have to comment if you guys dont want but atleast vote to see what the majority says. Thanks
My best high school friend and I used to hang around with a bunch of the special ed kids. We were about the only people who would talk to them because they were "different." Yeah, they were...nicest people in the entire place!
I'm sure it has its frustrating moments but boy...if you can do even semi-well with the job you will have employment for life.
A little tip: the term these days is "people with special needs"(like my professor said, "People always come first"). That will impress your boss.
I think that folks believe that it is somehow difficult to work with folks with special needs, but it really isn't. All you need is experience. The more you do it, the better you get at knowing what to do. I've worked with children with special needs for quite a few years, and it can be a bit daunting at first. You never know, you may start working with these folks and find that it is your calling. Give it a try. You can always quit if you don't think you can handle it.
Go for it. If you don't try it, you'll always wonder and it sounds like you have
interest in it. Worst that can happen is that you find it isn't for you, quit and
find another job.
Find out all you can about the people you will be working with and your responsibilities. Will they train you, or are they just expecting you to jump in? Will you be working with the same people every day? What enviroment are you going to be taking care of them in, home, supervised or public? After researching it a bit, the biggest question is do you feel comfortable doing that job? If you still do, go for it! But, no matter what the job, the better informed about it you are, the more comfortable you'll be in your decision.

1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I say go for it, I think you will really enjoy it.
My girlfriend works works in a school assisting children with special educational needs and she absolutly loves it. She started off as a classroom assistant now she is training to be a teacher.
And a decent payscale is always a bonus.
I would go with it. Those with special needs appreciate being treated as normal as possible. They have a unique view on the world. Depending on the disability they can be just like you or I. Some have Physical problems that are visible. Parents will be the hardest to handle. They tend to fall into two main groups they are overprotective or they run the opposites end afraid to deny the youngster anything.
I hope you enjoy it for those with special needs teach us many lessons about ourselves and our society.
Most Bishies are eyecandy therefore they must all be attractive for the females. One Problem though Can we have MORE LEGAL eyecandy??

WHen I was a kid, my sis, friends and I try to help other kids at a hospital by visiting them. It was totally our plan and we convinced my mom to take us (we have read some kids' book and we got so excited and we thought we could cheer them up )
Some sense a bit different but I do think it will be fun
Me? I might if I had more time. I'm not sure if I would like to try to help other kids at a hospital by visiting them. What's it like?

Ask the questions Belldandy said and make sure it's a place you feel comfortable working. If the place is legit and un-skeezy GO FOR IT!!! Not only is that quite a bit of money for someone who hasn't graduated high school to make, it's good work. As Baakay pointed out, people with special needs are generally some of the nicest people to work with. Plus it's opening yourself up to an experience most people don't get to have! (And looks great on a resume )
