Am I going crazy............??

Post by Gonzai »

Ok, I have been watching Hikaru No Go for the
second time. It hasn't been since I first started
watching DBZ that I have had an anime effect
me so much. X|

The music is constanly in my head. I am always
thinking about it - I mean always. I dream about
it - I am sure. I constantly look for any and all
items I can possibly find. :hurt:

I feel like I am totally losing control here. 8O
Have any of you ever experienced anything similar??
I feel like a total geek. X|

Nu-uh Pudge! You're not going crazy ^_^ I'm sure many of us can attest to the constant "obsession" of certain animes. Right now, I'm in a mix of HxH and RuroKen obsession O_O constantly re-watching episodes, listening to soundtracks, reading the mangas, and of course looking for cels :) So if you think you're going nuts, don't worry you're in good company :D

LOL!
:rollin
Theres a lil term I use constantly to describe myself now and thats "Narutard"-- and boy is it ever true! :nuts

Dont worry Nida.. I find it perfectly normal!
Im like that w/ Naruto right now.. well more like Kiba kun!
lol!
I spend all and any money I've got on ANYTHING that has
Kiba on it.. :crazy :cucu
even went as far as to pay 35 for a Kiba pin and 1
gashapon that happen to have him w/ Naruto :hurt: X|

I cant explain why this series has affected me so much!
Afterall its just an anime. But what can I say?
When you enjoy something you kinda just click w/ it!

And Im sure thats whats happening w/ HnG for ya! :hello /no1
Even thou anime is a very expensive entity to get hooked on,
it sure beats getting hooked on something harmful
(ex: like gambling, drugs, alcohol, etc.)
So dont worry! Your not a geek!.. well.. iof you are by the normie
standards then I guess theres no hope for the rest of us!

Pudge, it's more of an addiction we seem to have.
Most of us fall into the same trap of collecting. :) We see a show and must have part of it.
You are NOT alone!

For me the anime that has taken over my passion is Hajimeno Ippo. I enjoy everything about it, the manga and the anime. Lucky for me it is one of the last shows made with cels. So I get to feed the need of my cel addiction! Almost 100 cels in six months!:bwall
Before that I was and still am addicted to collecting from NT,HT X|

Oh well, I figure that collecting anime is much safer than smoking or some other forms of addiction! With the accept-ion of the damage to our bank accounts!

LOL Don't sweat it!

Argh....... I know I have been totally into other animes
as well, but this just seems different. Like last night, I
stayed up till 1:15 watching it - knowing full well I had
to be to work by 8:00. Then, when the dogs woke me
up at 5:00 this morning, instead of going back to bed,
like I should have, I decided to watch some more. X|

Its no wonder I fell asleep when I was on the phone
with one of my clients. 8O It was actually quite funny,
though, as they had me on speaker phone, and they
were all talking at once. I was kind of agreeing with
them, next thing I know - I dropped the phone. :P

Besides that, now I am contemplating buying a handmade
doll of Sai. I don't even collect dolls - never have. And
to make matters worse, its $250.00. 8O But its so awesome.
If it were just cels, I wouldn't be so concerned - heaven
knows I have done that many times. But this is everything.
You name it, I want it. I seriously need to up my medication.

Dear Pudge,

Runo is an artist, and dolls are her medium. I own some of her work. I almost purchased Sai from her, because I wanted her interpretation of traditional Heian costume. Now I am glad I refrained so that he can go to someone who will appreciate all of the aspects of the piece. I am including a link to a site where you can obtain classic wooden Japanese doll cases, really the only way to go when displaying Runo’s work. Traditional Japanese dolls are able to stand on their own, and most of Runo’s creations do not need, nor should they be displayed with a doll stand.

http://www.mikadosf.com/dolls/cases.htm

TGL-608 would probably be perfect for Sai, with enough room for his Eboshi and even for the possible addition of Hikaru if you wanted to pose them en tableau.

Sincerely yours,

Irmgaard

Hey - thanks for the heads up. :o
You don't by chance have her email address
do you. I click on the link on her webpage,
and it doesn't seem to work. :?

I can't wait to see what he looks like in person.
I have never been a doll collector, but something
about Sai just attracts me to anything and
everything that is him, and that doll is just awesome!! :)

I have it. It took me awhile to find the right link, too - but it's there. I'll PM you. :)

Dear Pudge,

Sorry to be so late in responding to your inquiry, but fortunately it appears that you have already received the needed information from another poster. Runo has switched to a messaging system, most likely due to her email being inundated with spam. If you are still not able to make contact, I have her email, as well as a postal address, and will privately message them to you if necessary.

You don’t need to worry that the doll will look childish or silly in your home. I am certain if you ask your Japanese friends they will tell you that virtually all older Japanese homes have encased dolls in one or more of the public rooms. Typically representing historical or legendary figures, or just traditional dancers, heroic samurai, or beautiful geisha, they serve much the same decorative purpose as a sculpture or vase or other object d’art, albeit with a very Japanese flavor. Without Hikaru, only the cognoscenti would even be aware that Sai was from a modern anime. Most casual observers would likely believe him a representation of an historical or Heian literary character.

Sincerely,

Irmgaard

You are merely experiencing great anime. When I finished the Escaflowne series, I sank into a horribly deep depression because the story had come to an end. Almost six years later, I still collect the cels and read the fan fiction and listen to the CDs. Eep. Okay, now *I'm* scared. LOL...
