Just so you dont feel alone, I have the american release, the deluxe Japanese box and the Movie in Japanese. The japanese version is so superior to the american dubbing that I cant imagine why anyone would want to watch it in english. ( I watch almost everything in Japanese) :D
I only have a couple of cels, but that is because , gulp, you can't collect everything :x

I admit that I'm a little surprised so few people have seen the series. It's been out so long, and usually gets such good press, though I thought it would be more standard. ^_^ Again, I think I must be showing my age.

Glorff, I agree, the Japanese cast is much better than the English cast. By now I've seen the series and movie so many times that I don't even bother to turn on the subtitles anymore.

I'm such a completist that I've actually own every official release of the series and movie with the exception of the Japanese series box set (but I do have the Japanese individual disc release, which is exactly the same, footage-wise). Let's see, that means I've got taking up space on my shelf...

1) US series box set release (since the discs in the box are EXACTLY the same as the individual release discs, I sold those a few months back -- didn't need two sets)
2) Japanese series discs (the only source of the "uncut director's edition" episodes 1-6)
3) US movie box set (great release)
4) US movie regular edition (same as above, but with different cover and fewer extras)
5) Japanese movie box set (a nice set, but now made a bit obsolete by the US release, which has everything in this set + more)
6) Japanese movie regular edition (the only source of the hilarious Korean dub track -- Allen sounds like Shaft)

I don't even want to think about how much money that is. ^_^

It's only money. What good is money if it can't make you happy. :)

Hehehe,

I've of course seen both and LOVED both.

Esca is highly recommended and loved by a pretty diverse group of anime fans. When we showed it at our anime club I don't think anyone hated it. And it's been debated whether it's Shonen or Shoujo because it combines common elements of both. Therefore it is appealing to people who prefer one or the other or both, like me.

ja ne,

sue ^_^

I've seen both! And I love them, although the movie was iffy up until Dilly in his skivvies. If I ever find a cel of those red boxers, I WILL KILL FOR IT.

KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILL.

And the sperm on Chesta's head ::snicker::

As for the series...well...everytime I watch it I wonder why I don't collect it.

Welcome to Beta, Lizzard! It's true, I'm just short of twisting Sithy's arm to watch the movie with me . . . I totally fell in love with it. :) The music IS really beautiful . . .

Now I need to watch some of the episodes so I can decide if I want those too or not. I sort of jumped on the movie blindly, but I'm glad I did.

BTW, it's nice to see the Allen-socky here!

Okay, I need to add an addendum to my first post here. I've just finished the series - I had a good sniffle too. heehee :emb I still like Van best (Allen was kind of a creep! I was surprised, since I had seen the movie first) but Merle and Folken turned out to be pretty cool. :) I'm so glad I finally saw it all.

Golden Dragon just watched the movie again, and I finally got to see it.

Me like. :D

Best part for someone like me: the music. I am in LOVE with the music.

Can't wait to watch the series.
